They should fight each other or one should relinquish any claim to a HW title immediately. It's that simple. One way is easier than the other, but one is essential to the well-being of the HW division.

They have no obligation to fight each other - and even if they did, it's not as if they would go all-out on each other.

Lewis is simply being stupid here.

But then again that could happen to any challenger.

That's probably what's going to happen. VK wants a couple of money fights and then he'll retire leaving the belt for Wladimir to fight for.

If they did fight it would be one of the biggest selling fights ever. The boxing fan part of me would love to see it too but I can understand them not wanting to boost their own legacy at the expense of their own brother.

You are correct since the well being of the sport is more important than any individual but I think VK retires & Wlad completes his legacy with unification against whomever is unlucky enough to fight him for the WBC.

What would the hardcore haters say then? That would be the last step nec. for the linear title.

    Oh yea MUCH better. :patsch

Doesn't fit your picture of the world, so just disregard it. Its that simple? Get the hell out of here.

None of you clowns brought forward any facts on why Gomez wasn't a worthy #1 WBC contender.

That's really the best argument against this fight. Well said.

How could Wlad fight for the WBC belt if Vitali vacates it? I think that's impossible. The WBC would let it's two highest ranked contenders battle it out and Wlad is not ranked with the WBC as long as he holds IBF/WBO.

I said it above, the only way I see Wlad holding the 3 belts are:

    1. He fights Vitali and takes the belt from him
    2. Vitali loses his WBC belt in a VOLUNTARY defense and Wlad can enforce a rematch on the winner

    It sure was.

Let’s start listing IBO and IBA contenders while we are at it.

WBO title wasn’t worth of anything in late 90 early 2000.

Lewis had one win after fighting a bunch of bums. Wow! This doesn't make Gomez a less credible challenger. Gomez has 10x more Top 10 fighter across HW & CW in his resume prior to challenging Vitali than Lewis had in 1993.

There's a group of people here trying to discredit EACH AND EVERY opponent of Vitali, no matter how silly you look when presented with the facts. Vitali could beat Godzilla you deluded clowns would argue Godzilla was only looking for a payday, wasn't a worthy challenger and didn't come to win.

Maybe in cruiserweights but in heavys he never beat anyone in top-10.
