I think that Cotto is in the right here. Even though i feel he is going to lose. I don't understand why people think that Cotto is going to be the stronger man here though. Just because a man is shorter than you doesn't make him weaker. I can guarantee you that even with 10-12 lbs of extra weight on Cotto that Pac is the stronger man. I will go even further and say that come fight night. Pac will look like the bigger man.

:good I'd rather see the fight at 147 for the sake of argument. Cotto came in at 146 last time Pac 138. Lets just assume these are their current best fighting weights. Who should get more credit for a win. Cotto fighting Pac 9lbs above his best weight? Or Pac for fighting Cotto 1lb below his best weight?

I got no problem with Cotto not putting his belt in the line. Afterall he's right he won the belt with the ability to use the full welterweight limit during weighin. My problem is people acting like this is the norm for a champ not to be defending his belt at a catchweight. Anyone who has followed boxing seriously for more than a couple years knows this.

Cotto is a pretty stocky guy. Look at how broad his back and shoulders are. Cotto is a naturally stronger guy but not bigger puncher. Pac has brought his power up through the weights. That little 105 pound fighter now still has that same crushing power he was knocking guys around with down there.

okay you just said it again .. if Cotto puts on 12lbs yeah he'll weight more by fight night, no kidding.

I don't think you understand what im saying

weather the agreed on weight for the fight is

    145

    or 147

won't Cotto weight more by fight night?

no, I've always said Cotto will weight more.

that's why I don't get the whole argument of saying Cotto has an unfair advantage because of fight night weight if the fight is at Welter vs Catchweight

as he (Cotto) will be heavier regardless.

    but you get me.

Cotto will have a big weight advantage regardless of whether he comes in at 147, 146, or 145. Thats why i dont get the whole point of that ****. You guys really think bringing cotto down to 145 is gonna make him come in under 160 pounds on fight night? Hes probobly gonna weigh the same, just be a lil more dehydrated due to that extra pound. But at least the fight isnt at 143 :patsch That would have been rediculous. I bet that *******s would also want cottos WW title on the line if they fought at 140 :rofl

Think: If there was no difference in the fight being at 145 or 147, it wouldn't be discussed at all by the fighters. So of course there's a difference, regardless of whether boxing fans know what the difference is.

this just occured to me. Question, I know Cotto was 146 on the scales vs Clottey, but what was his unofficial weight by fight night vs Clottey according to the HBO scales?

secondly how/why would Cotto want to come in at 160 by fight night .. as the bigger he is, wouldn't he lose speed with added weight?

HBO didn't give fight night weights for the Clottey fight. I know that Cotto came in @ 159 over two years ago against Urkal, so, it's not out of the question that Cotto will come in over 160 for the Pac fight.
