Julio Cesar CHAVEZ vs. Joel CASAMAYOR @ 135lbs

Chavez didnj't have problems with boxers at 135, he had problems with Whitaker at 147.

 

Casa was a good boxer, not a great one. JCC would cut off the ring and punish him badly. Casa doesn't have the power or the stamina to keep JCC off of him. Casa really has come up short in almost all his big fights if you look at him.

The best fighter that he has a victory over without also having lost to him is Nate Campbell.

 

I don't think so...Chavez was one of the best ever at being able to cut off the ring...no way in hell Casa can hurt Chavez who would eventually walk him down and stop him...

Just picture Castillo but on a different level. This would end in brutal TKO.

 

Chavez was way OVERRATED. For his first 60 fights or so he only fought unknown Mexicans in Mexico. It was'nt until after he had a 60-0 or 70-0 record that he started to fight better competition, like that anyone can become a legend! Casamayor would have a very good chance of outboxing him that is of course in Casamayor's prime. Remember, Casa started losing his level after 34 years old as he had thousands of ring miles already in Cuba. A prime Casa was between 26 when he defected and maybe until 33 years old. A prime Casa would outbox the heck out of Chavez or any other.

Let's get this clear, Casamayor was ripped off against Freitas and we all know that. He was also ripped off against Corrales once and also against Castillo, as Castillo could'nt touch him all night long. He was a very brilliant boxer who made you miss all night long and then made you pay. He defeated a vast array of feared fighters like Corrales ( twice ), Robert Garcia, Nate Campbell, Mike Katsidis ( even at 35 years old ) and many others.

His first actual professional KO loss came against Marquez and like I said earlier Casamayor was way past his prime! A prime Cepillo would have also defeated Marquez! Also, let's remember that Casamayor was always a 130lbs fighter not 135lbs. He was'nt too successful at 135.:happy

 

Casa fans complain and ***** too much about the fights that he lost. He was not robbed in the freitas fight. he did get a KD scored against him that shouldn't have been but even without that he still loses that fight or gets a draw at best. he was CLEARLY out boxed by Corrales in their second fight. No matter how many time I watch that fight I am still amazed that anyone would score it for Casamayor.

When people rate JCC they always take into consideration the bums that he fought but the fact of the matter is that even when he stepped up the comp he still kicked ass and Casa is an underacheiver that comes up short and then cries about it.

 

Just because Chavez beat a bunch of bums doesnt mean he was over rated or that he was a bum. Chavez is a legend and i dont see a lot of fighters in history beating him at 135. Another great example of legends with a long record fighting many unworthy and at the same time worthy opponents were Roberto Duran and SRR. Chavez and Duran both beat bums, but also beat great fighters in their time. They have extended records because they were active fighters.

 

Not to mention that Casa's list of victim's isn't exactly a who's who of great names. With the exception of Corrales I don't think that any of the guys that he has beat will even be in the HOF.

 

Casamayor gets beat up by a much better fighter.

I'm quite aware of the results against Corrales, you just misinterpreted what I said. Freitas was not a split decision it was unanimous against Casa 114-112 across the board. That was a very close fight but even without the bogus KD casa loses and without what most believe was a justified point deduction for fouling he gets a draw at best. Freitas outboxed him early on and he came on strong at the end but too little too late.

I'm not saying he ha a bad resume but be honest here. Chavez's resume is better by far. Rosario, Ramirez, Camacho, Taylor x 2, Mayweather, a draw with Gonzalez when he was way past his prime.
