Never heard of a world champion that could be crowned by beating the likes of David Diaz either.

let's say pac beats cotto, is he going to defend the belt and come in each fight at 145? Then it will be a new welter weight limit. Doesn't make sense to me.

"Cotto won't accept tricks" is an awesome headline and he is finally the first fighter to stand up to Arum and the Pacman's camp's nonsense..

I'm confused on how you would view Cotto to be "dumb" for putting his title on the line. The title creates interest specifically amongst casual fans. It symbolizes that boxing isn't just a mere fight with rules but an actual sport with stakes that are at hand. The WBO ww title as it stands means absolutely nothing. Cotto won the vacated title by defeating Michael Jennings. So if one were to argue in favor of the belt's credibility then I would simply laugh and shake my head. For that I see no reason why Cotto would hesitate to include the title. It has no credibility but yet still holds promotion value. If the fight's promotion included the title then one can conclude that perhaps a bigger PPV turnout could be expected thus generating more money for Cotto. It sounds to me based on his apparent comments about his willingness to vacate it if the fight is not at 147 that he's just being spiteful and it comes off as childish to me.

As far at Lelonde risking his 175 title, I referenced it because it lays a precedence. If it happened before under more dramatic circumstances than why can't it happen again with Pac?

Pacman is a much smaller man and his demands should be met to meet at a catch weight.
he is at a disadvantage when Cotto comes in outweighing him by 12 lb

I wonder how confident Cotto would be at 154?

Diaz was the champion, crowned by beating Morales.

There have been alot worse champions than David Diaz. A shot to **** Arturo Gatti springs to mind.

come on man, are you just trying to say something back? Pac is the greater fighter no doubt, he is the smaller fighter also, but one of his attributes is that he can fight at multiple weight classess effectively, including the welterweight division. When Cotto moved up in weight was because he was killing himself to make weight, he's not the kind that can fight at different divisions like Pacquiao. In simple words, that's an unfair comparison :good
