    This is absurd.

So there is nothing to be gained, at all, from fighting Lesnar?

This mindset, the idea that Fedor is somehow above fighting, that he doesn't need to fight to remain the best fighter in the world is just so childish.

If he is a true sportsman, he needs to find regular, consistent fights against top tier opponents. M-1 offers him nothing in that department, and I can't see any other org doing that either.

Yes he can still be great, but to act like penetrating the worlds biggest market, and fighting a guy who has looked so dominant in his fights offers him nothing is just hero worship and silly.

Fedor NEEDS to fight Lesnar, Machida and Anderosn Silva then he can retire.

But some would rather see him fight Overeem and Werdum.

Fedor doesnt need to fight anyone. Quit with this starry eyed bull**** already. If Fedor retired NO ONE COULD COMPLAIN. The man has reached an echelon in this sport where he can choose to fight who ever he wants. Just because he's not willing to come to the UFC doesnt then detract from what is the greatest career of any MMA fighter of all times? What if Lashly turned into a stud in his next few fights does Fedor need to fight him too? You guys call yourself fans but you have memories as shallow and short as a goldfish.

2 years ago the same people were saying he needs to fight Sylvia and Alovski. He then knocked out both and suddenly those wins didnt mean much. I was always arguing that Fedor would beat both those guys by KO in 1 round and wasnt surprised at all. I didnt think those fights would be difficult for Fedor but there were plenty who did.

Sorry mate, but Fedor still has some fighting years left in him and I want to see him take on the likes of Lesnar, Machida and Silva.

Yes he could retire right now and still go down as the GOAT but Fedor has a chance to make his legacy even greater!

you cannot tell me that you would'nt love to see him take that title off Brock and show the casual fans and Tuf fans what he's all about.

You cannot tell me that you would not love to see how he would deal with the skills and speed of the smaller Machida and Silva. :hey

Your UFC hate is strong Scurla but I know that you want to see Fedor shut a lot of the UFC TUF huggers up and put a beatdown on the UFC's finest. :deal

Fedor is not finished yet so he must go to the UFC if he wants to continue fighting. :deal

That is what being the best / the champ / the #1 / a sportsman is all about, fighting "the next guy." Nobody in any sport reaches an echelon of being able to fight bad opponents and still continue to call themselves the best; if you aren't fighting the best, you aren't proving that you CURRENTLY are. It can't take away from your past, but not fighting that next best guy, and not continuing to always fight that next best guy after the last one, certainly hurts your present.

You are spot on retirement wise, if he wants to retire he has more than made his impact as the best.

That isn't the issue though, its not UFC vs retirement; its UFC vs unknown organizations with no steady supply of solid opponents.

If Lashley turns into what appears to be the second best heavyweight fighter (not gonna happen) then yes, Fedor should fight him. Nobody is saying stopping now hurts his legacy, but fighting Brock Lesnar is the biggest fight out there for him right now, and it adds to his legacy a very nice piece. And taking a weaker fight clearly does hurt his credibility as the current #1.

In a way Fedor does need to fight Lesnar to add to his legacy. Yes, he is the greatest of all time to most MMA fans but there are probably far more UFC fans then there are MMA fans. Most people I talk to don't even know who Fedor is. If Fedor comes to the organization that is pretty much the monopoly of the sport and beats the goliath who the majority of UFC fans think can't be beat, he would add so much more the his legacy.

Now if he isn't retiring, who else would you rather see him fight?

The problem is, we haven't see Fedor beat a current UFC champ. We don't want to Sylvia after he has lost. We want to see him beat Mir, Couture, Lesnar while they are champs. He gets promps for beating former champs but beating a current champ like Lesnar will elevate him in many ways.

Sorry to go off topic, but is your Lesnar avatar's homage to a certain bigfoot film deliberate?

Thats rather semantic. His never fought for the UFC so he isnt going to beat a current champ is he. Either way he has beaten 5 former UFC champs. That is the men the UFC toutest as their best heavyweights. Every one of them was brutally annihilated and that includes a prime Nog. Plus he would have been the betting favourite to beat Barnett.. Fedor does not need Brock as any leverage as this is the same mantra UFC fans were pulling when Fedor faced Matt Lindland. They complained and whined saying he's not facing the best bla bla bla. Now that Brock has made a name for himself all of a sudden Brock is now Fedor's sternest test and Fedor has to fight him. Im telling you no he does not.

This is a rather purest way of thinking. The UFC does what is best for itself. Likewise Fedor does whats best for himself. Fedor is already THE GOAT. He doesnt need Brock nor the UFC. Neither does he need to satisfy fans of the UFC. If Dana was interested in bringing Fedor to the UFC then these mooted bouts with Couture Brock Mir etc etc would have happened a long time ago. Fact of the matter is they have not. So we can sit here and speculate all we like but the liklyhood is Fedor is never coming to the UFC and i for one cannot blame him in the slightest.

I couldnt give 2 craps about any of those UFC frat boys or TUF. They can all swing as far as im concerned. And dont be surprised Fedor has been doing this for some time. He doesnt have many fights left despite his age. I wouldnt be too surprised if he call it day within the next 12 months.
