Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach told the Manilla Bulletin that Manny doesn't need a fight with Cotto if the title is not on the line. He says the WBO should force Cotto to defend the title. The sanctioning body is trying but Cotto has already said that he plans to vacate the title if the WBO tries to force his hand. "The WBO should make it a title fight. We don’t need the fight if the title is not on the line," Roach said. "I want Manny to do this for a reason. I want Manny to win seven world titles. Titles are overrated but I would like to see Manny do this."

    sounds fair enough.....

but Cotto ain't putting his title on the line if it aint 147, so they're options are take the fight at 147 or fight Mosley

 Just shut up and fight. Preferably, fight Marquez again - freeing up Floyd for Cotto (and then the Mosley/Berto winner).

But Roach said title belts are overrated. I don't get it if it's overrated then why Roach wants Manny to win one? So Manny can become an overrated champion?

It makes sense. He's seeing prestige in volume, basically. A single world title, in the modern alphabet climate - so what? Seven, though...that' something.

    He is very right.

No point in fighting Cotto if the title is not on the line.

So, either make it at no catchweight or fight Mosley instead who is willing to offer his WW belts even at 140.

If Roach wanted the title so bad he should fight at 147, funny how he was saying all that **** about it being no problem and them not even needing the belt, now they are crying.

What is really funny is how is the WBO going to make Cotto puth is belt on the line against Manny, when Manny is a voluntary defense. The WBO can't do ****.

Roach is higher maintanance then my ex girlfriend, theres no pleasing him and his bull**** demands.
Cotto's doing the right thing, you want my 147 title then fight me at 147lb.

aw gad not that again. there are enough threads posting reasons for both sides already.

what it boils down really is just how much both of them wants this fight. then let concessions be made to make it happen, or simply walk away.

That's perfectly acceptable in my opinion, but Pacquiao should go the full 47lb weight limit for his legacy's sake. This way, the only asterisk that's going to his ledger if he wins is that Cotto was a "spent" fighter when they met. If he loses, he lost at a weight that might have been too high for him anyway.

Cotto should insist on it being 147.
