Why doesnt he just say under no circumstances do we support Cotto and we support Manny Pacquiao in anything he wants, as long as he pays our sanctioning fee.

:good That's why WBO jumped in and rated Pac as the #1 WW contender. Now they can force this to be a title fight. The way they did this is just terrible though; I don't see how they can rank Pac that way - no other division has him ranked as a WW fighter. The fact that they did this after Cotto said he wouldn't put the title on the line truly shows how they are manipulating the situation and acting unethically. It's even worst that they hindered Cotto's negotiation tools.

Why does he need to? If two fighters agree a contracted weight between them, that's entirely their business.

According to published reports: Arum views the Cotto camp’s stubborn stance as part of a Boricua feud between Penagaricano, who is affiliated with the WBC and WBO leader and San Juan attorney Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel. But it still bugs the Las Vegas based promoter who handles Manny and Miguel.

    Quote from Arum on 8/5/09:
“It’s some local situation, I guess,” Arum said Tuesday. “I don’t want to get involved in whatever it is. Look, Paco is a good guy and we have the situation all worked out. I am paying the freight for both sides here.
“It is a world title fight and making a fuss is silly. Can you see anything more stupid than Cotto refusing to defend the title and losing it for that reason? Would anything be more asinine?”

Arum already agreed to pay the fee for both fighters.

Having said that, it doesn't mean Cotto will not vacate the title. He should because in this case, he is right.

Because initially it wasnt involving his title. Once they wanted the title Cotto said no right?

Initially no title was involved - and both sides were ok with it. WBO contacted Pacquiao's lawyer and stirred everything up. That's why it is so obvious how they unethicaly did this to get paid.

Exactly my point he wasnt rated at all until this fight was sign, and only the WBO is ranking him. That's a shocker right? Manny still hasnt fought a 147 guy, so how could he be rank the #1 mandatory? :good You guys don't undertstand the weight issue is not the problem, because it still falls as a welterweight as long as it's not over 147 or under 141. The problem is the fight was already agreed upon as a non-title, not meaning that later on, it would have changed once Cotto probably could have squeeze a few extra bucks to make it a title fight. The WBO president has wrongfully step in and very selfishly wants to make some quick six digit figures and mess everything up. Wake up guys.

PAC was ranked at 147 by Ring Mag right after he defeated Dela Hoya last December 2008... Yes it's Ring Mag but you can get a hint that XYZ boxing orgs can also do the same...

Before that PAC was ranked at 135, then PAC was ranked simultaneously at 135 and 147, then after the Hatton fight PAC was ranked at 140... PAC can be easily ranked in the 140 and 147 divisions right now...

Below is Ring Magazine's Top 5 ranked welterweights as of December 12, 2008:

He is the problem with Pac sackswingers...You cats dont understand ****...Well most of you do you just ignore it...PAC WASNT RANKED BY THE WBO until the talks of fighting Cotto came about...Pac has NEVER even fought a welterweight, and only fought at the weight one time, and that was vs a Jr middleweight. Not enough to get you ranked...The problem isnt that the WBO wants this to be a title fight, the problem is that they are holding Pac and Roachs hand in the strongarming of Cotto into fighting at less then the weight requires. If Cotto dont agree to fight the WBO will strip him and hand the title to pac anyways...If I were Cotto I would tell the WBO to get ****ed, drop the belt beat Pacs ass and leave the belt and pac in a pile in the middle of the ring. Or do a Bowe and drop that crap in the trash.

Misunderstanding boy... What organization other than the WBO, which surprisingly has Manny as the mandatory fighter, has Manny as #1 or even #2 at 147?:deal Him beating DLH who didnt fight in that weight and wasnt even rank in that weight class could put Manny as a top welterweight at 147 #1 or #2, pretty interesting?

    http://www.wbo-int.com/public/org/regulations.htm

Now read number 8 on that link and tell me how and who did Manny beat a top 5 current welterweight in 2009, which will make him #1 or #2 in any organization. It seems to me the WBO wants some money.

I'm just presenting the fact that Pacquiao was at one time ranked at welterweight...

I didn't say WBO is 100% correct on installing Pacquiao as the current #1 welterweight contender but they must have some basis in doing so...;)

No you havent, the ring is not part of the organizations we are discussing:good. Just for your knowledge remember who bought the ring and is owner of Ring Magazine, goes by the nickname of Goldenboy. But since you like the Ring so much heres an updated of their current ratings at 147, 2009 not 2008 by the way;) Do I see Mannys name there????

They don't have any basis. Beating DLH, who wasn't ranked, does not make Pac a #1 contender. No other organization has him ranked - hell, a month ago WBO didn't have him ranked. There is no justification for suddenly ranking him.
