One loss and some people think a boxer should retire?

A Trainer who teaches him to use his size, more sparring, better balance, all the basics. Dimitrenko is not that bad.

He makes a pretty good Dolph Lundgren imitator. Perhaps Dimitrenko could star in crappy German, Ukrainian and Russian action movies.

The main problem is he doesn't use his size. He crouches, stands 5" shorter than he really is (eliminating his size advantage) and makes himself "small". Then he gets up his guard and stands with the back to the ropes.

    Footwork? Non existent.

In all seriousness, he has to fire his trainer.

If I were Dimitrenko, I'd make a long vacation and let my lovely wife tend all the cuts and bruises at lenght, both the physical and the psychical ones ;-)

Now in earnest, I think Dimitrenko just got used to be the big guy taking smaller guys out, who were moving backwards most of the time. Now he suddenly had a smaller guy in front of him who wouldn't step back but hit him with everything he had. That was something he never experienced and probably never seriously trained for, at least not while preparing for the Chambers fight.

I bet my ass he expected Chambers to step back and sideways all the time, and Chambers knew he'll expect exactly that, and it was a masterful strategy to do exactly the opposite. Dimitrenko was that surprised he couldn't adapt. He just got used to the fact smaller guys would run from him, he didn't have to force them back at all... Against Chambers he needed to rough him up and force him back with punches and brute force and his size and weight, but he just didn't know how.

Now he needs to regroup and to train something new... From one defeat you learn more then from 10 victories :)

No one ever really needs to retire in the WBA. Look at Valuev, Ruiz and Holyfield. So Dimintrenko should fit right in.

Get a better trainer and try, or work as lawyer. He has some fundamentals that could carry him vs. the second row of heavies, but his mental weakness is his downfall whenever it gets rough. Sdunek obviously does not have the knowledge to iron out his problems.

He's still young, he has time, he really needs to improve his game though.

He needs to go for a totally different kind of trainer and see if he can mix it up. He needs to learn some new things if he wants to compete against guys like Chambers, because that was a schooling.

I'd like to see Dimitrenko vs. Ibragimov (or Chagaev) in a crossroads fight. Loser retires, winner gets a second chance.

I believe Dimitrenko is set to fight Krasniqui in a rematch.

Learn how to use his size and reach. He never attempted to establish the jab or right hand in his fight with Chambers, and moved around the ring far too much, often putting himself against the ropes.

He was originally supposed to fight Povetkin, he is lucky that fight didn't happen as Povetkin would have taken him out in 6.

    welcome to ESB j/k
but it seems that nowadays you can't lose because you are:
    a) a bum
    b) a waste of time
    c)a nobody
    d) overrated

People should understand that sometines, just sometimes, a good/great boxer can lose against the journymans, even more to a LEGIT TOP 10... this is the HW for God's sake.... you don't see a punch coming and it's your end
