One small point I would like to make is that Joe faced Sakia Bika before his appearence on the contender series not after as is implied in the opening of this thread.

Also Wales is really just West England it was conqured over 1,500 years ago, it really has no right to have nation status.

I guess that the Welsh would disagree with that assesment.

To be fair mate, I don't really like the way the Welsh go on either (although they are better than the Scots) but it was not 1,500 years ago. Edward I was really the geezer that conquered Wales. Before that it was just a patchwork of villages, with different rulers in different areas. Because in Wales instead of the eldest son inheriting everything, it was shared out between all the sons and even uncles, so no-one was ever able to accumulate enough land. Hence, because each ruler had such little power they bowed down to the English in the main, and so Engiish lords had lands in Wales. However, in and around 1250 Llywellyn ap Gruffydd was able to win a number of wars and was able to take control a sizable amount of land. Once, he done this he then began to attack the English lordships, and sized almost all of them by 1257 (when Henry III was still king). Then Llywellyn, was able to negotiate a treaty with the English, which stated, that Llywellyn was the 'prince' of Wales. However, the treaty also contained a number of other rules that Llywellyn was unable to abide by, so in 1277 Edward I took it all. So really it was 1277 that Wales was conquered.

I'd like to see a Welsh response to this one:lol:

I think Calzaghe was a great fighter that didn't do enough work to really establish his greatness.

Awkward, fast and he had a hell of a chin, then throw in his adaptability I don't think there is any question how good he was, until you look at his resume, and that drops him way down the list.

Calzaghe like others was too concerned about his legacy, retiring with the "0".

    LOL.

    Good post.

It is always difficult balancing out all the important criticisms (obvious facts that only compatriots, nuthuggers, and mostly shitty non-athletic couch potato-like ESB posters could ignore in their blind desire for a "compatible" hero to claim) with the need to be complete, objective, and not seem pernicious.:D

Oh, you've got a second post with a case "for" Joe. Sorry, could only read a couple lines of that one as the fairy tale was just too unbelievable.
