I never really followed TUA's career but him being a small explosive heaveyweight I should remember him more for being exciting and explosive KO artist etc.

Also comparing what a near enough prime TUA to a 96 TYSON and most people think it will be close, just goes to show what a prime TYSON would do.

Tua would not be intimidated by Tyson and has a better chin = Tua KOs Mike.

Well being a big Tua fan (Kiwi + Boxing Fan = fan of the Tuaman :thumbsup) my natural temptation is to say Tua by a brutal KO.
But when you actually look at this match up, as most have said, Tyson seems to have edge in almost all departments.
I'd put good money on Tua being standing at the end of the fight though, if Lewis' straight right couldn't do the job over 12 rounds I cant imagine what kind of punishment it would take to put him down. Having said that Mike could take some heavy shots himself.
Mike was the naturally faster guy, and without a doubt would be getting his shots off first, but I think Tua's defense is under rated.
IMO Tua wouldn't have much of a chance of winning on points, and Mike would have to something truely special to win by KO.
So for me a lot of to comes down to how many and how hard Tua can land on Tyson, and how Mike's stamina fares.
One things for sure this would have been a hell of a fight, and one that had the potential to be still talked about today.
I'm gonna have to sit on the fence -50/50 between a late KO/TKO for Tua, and a wide UD for Tyson. Toss a coin...

    Agreed.

And the thing with Tua is he keeps that power for all 12 rounds and is the rare breed of puncher that gets the late ko's. Plus, he's the type that can be in tough back and forth fights or behind on scorecards and still find ways to land and win. And he knows how to finish an opponent when they do get hurt which is critical against a Tyson. If he lands and hurts Tyson, it's tgoing to be hard for Tyson to kill 90 seconds against this guy when he goes into that 4th gear and finishing mode. It would be a test for both guys and 1 I wanted to see.

Those things are going to be tough to deal with for Tyson who isn't exactly going to dance on his toes in the 11th round to coast to a victory. He'll be standing right in front of Tua and that left hook sizzles. It's a much tougher shot to absorb for a guy fatigued late in a bout than it is to shake off a big shot early and alter tactics. I also like the stamina factor of early 230 pound Tua anyway==the guy against Ike. I sure don't see Tyson having that kind of gastank where he is asked to absorb.

I'm afraid Tua has the lesser chin.

Tua although employs a similar style to Tyson, is far less aggressive than Mike and this leads to his opponents not stepping up the attack simply because they can outbox him without being overly aggressive.

    Look at the Lewis fight.

Tyson has and will always be considered a threat in any fight and Lewis knew that. Tyson was hit with significantly bigger punches against Lennox than Tua was. In fact Tua more or less resigned after about 2 rounds and was content to eating jabs as long as he wasnt getting nailed with Lewis's mammoth right hands/uppercuts. Tyson took far more clean punches in the Lewis fight than Tua did in his respective fight.

    Tua fought Ibeabuchi.
    Tyson fought Ruddock. Twice.

    Edge Tyson

Tua fought Rahman. Who is not really a 1 punch KO guy. But lets give him the benefit of the doubt and say he is.

Tyson fought a bigger puncher in Bruno. Twice.

    Edge Tyson.

Alex Stewart and Bonecrusher Smith were also big punchers. Bigger than Maskaev.

Tua's chin is crackable. Just like any fighter's. The difference between Tua and Tyson is simple. Tyson put his chin through more rigourous testing, Holyfield hit Tyson enough to kill him but Tyson only hit the canvas once off a balance shot. Douglas landed enough leather on Mike to cause brain damage. Again, Tyson took an enourmous amount of punches.

Tua has never been in a situation where he's taking flush combinations that Tyson was taking.

In fact, Chris Byrd hurt David in their fight in 2002. With bodyshots.

tyson is still a more dangerous puncher. tyson will most likey win the exchanges. ibeabuchi was able to trade with tua and beat him doing it. tyson is a more proven fighter and more offensively dangerous. and tua has never been koed but hes never fought the type of punchers tyson has and has never faced an agressive fighter like tyson.

alot of you keep saying tua has the better chin but fact is tyson fought bigger punchers and was more agressive then tua. watch, tyson vs. lewis and tua vs. lewis. tyson was charging lewis for much of the fight and ate several overhand fights. even lewis said he was shocked at the amount of punches he ate. when tua fought lewis, once he started getting tagged. he went into a shell to avoid getting hit. so dont act like tua cant get hurt becuase tyson was more agressive when fighting the same opponent.

very good post. a guy who is more agressive is naturally going to get hit more. if tua gets hit by the amount of punches tyson got hit in his losses, more then likely he gets koed as well.

Well first off Bryd Hurt Tua with a body shot? lol. I watch that fight and Tua wasn't hurt by the body shot. It's more like Tua was tired of chasing Bryd.

Imo the reason Bruno has more ko record then Rahman is easily simple, cause Rahman has faced MORE BETTER FIGHTERS!!!!! who the freaking hell has Bruno beat that was actually good? Rahman has beaten Barrett who wasn't shot, Meeham (coming off a bs loss to Brewster in which many thought Meeham won the fight), Sanders ( the same fighter that tko Wlad in the 2nd round), Lewis (Who is a way way better fighter then all of fighters that Bruno beat correct?) Rahman has stop 2 good ok fighters in Meeham, Sanders. But Rahman ko one of the best heavyweights in Lewis.

^^^^^^In which shows in reality Rahman is a proven puncher while Bruno isn't proven. Bruno only ko fighters that are not even good at all oh and Rahman ko Lewis in the first fight while Bruno couldn't when he fought Lewis.

So edge goes to Tua :)

Umm dude Stewart and Smith? lol. Both of those fighters that they beat are mostly all tomato cans for freaking sakes. Hell didn't Stewart loss by tko to MASKAEV!!!!!!!!?

Maskaev tko Rahman twice in which Rahman is 20 times better then all of Stewart and Smith opponents combine of fighters they beat. In which again proves Maskaev is a proven puncher.

    Edge goes to Tua.

Razor is a good fighter but so is Ike. Is Razor a better ko puncher then Ike? umm nope. Ike has only fought 20 times in his pro fights before he went to prison but in his last fight he tko Bryd in which Bryd is a much better fighter then all of fighters that Rudduck beat by a stoppage am i right?

    So edge goes to Tua

Ike fought smart when he fought Tua cause in those exchanges Ike keep putting his right guard up in which he's not letting Tua hit him with huge left hooks cleanly. Tyson wouldn't do that.

Tua has a better chin. If he didn't and if he wasn't as dangerous then Lewis would have take more Chances by trying to stop Tua like he did vs Tyson. Lewis plan was just outboxing Tua using his long reach to keep Tua at bay. Tua try to come in landing a big shots mostly with the left hook but Lewis was being too smart in which is why Lewis keep his right hand way up. Steward didn't want Lewis to take a chance vs Tua but Steward told Lewis to finish Tyson off quickly in which is why Steward keep yelling at Lewis to finish Tyson off cause he said "the man is finish"
