I gave him rounds 3 and 4. If he fought a bit more defensive i think he could have won, he should come back and clean out australia and then jet off again.

Willie most certainly done himself and Oz proud. Going over to the States and fighting a quite obviously very promising fighter.

I think some people actually listened when some overanxious dickheads said he would be the next Rose.
Just judging his career on his own merits he has done quite well and I hope will continue to do better things.

I dont think this was bad loss..he can take a lot out of his experience over there.

He does have chin issues and he will have to tighten up his defense to remedy these. In this fight his lack of powerful and physically strength was apparent..so maybe he should keep camping out a lightweight..maybe superfeather isnt where he is supposed to be. Maybe its the other way, maybe he needs to boil down to feather.
I dont know what they have to do there but I really still rate Willie as a very solid prospect in Oz.

I also reckon Willie could benefit from developing a good feint..his speed and fluid style would make him harder to read if he could sharpen this skill.

I agree 100%, a good solid feint could produce a mistake from his opponent. In this fight Booner was good but was quick to throw his counter hook, a good feint might entice the counter which would leave him wide open for a straight right.

I thought Willie was a lot quicker than what he shoewd in this fight as well, maybe it was quality of opposition, but if he can develop faster hand and foot speed with an ability to roll with or out of the way of these big bombs, there is definitely some promise there. This may mean his chin will be less of a factor because he is not getting hit as often.

    Just some thoughts

    Welcome Gaz.

Yeah thats what I notice in this fight anyway. Willie seem to commit to the punch even though it wasnt really on, then Broner would step in with the counter and be in the better position.

A couple of times I could see a feint inviting the parry or block from the high handed Broner and then Willie coming throw with the real punch just after. In fact a once or twice the jab came up short, Willie followed up with the right and in landed nice and clean.

Easier said then done though..but will has got time and natural athletic ability on his side.

Broner had Willy reaching with his right hand. Kickett was off balance lunging just about every time he threw it.

I didnt think I was watching Willie at first..he bordered on wild with that ****. I think he wanted get the upperhand early and put his mark on the fight.

Poor tactical move because obviously Broner left counter was his best punch...maybe they didnt know that but a bit of a nervous start from Willie.

Willie's best moments were when he slipped into range behind the jab anf let fly with a few shots at a time..not when he was loading up and going for broke..Thats pretty much how he ended up getting stopped.

Im sure the boys will sit down and dissect that.
