Him not putting 100% in is not even an option to me. I don't see how that can be questioned. Retiring within the next few years is just a smart thing for him to do while his health is intact. Go get concreted for 11+ rounds and see if you're the same!:!:
Cotto has fought anyone there is to fight at welterweight at this point anyways Mosley Margarito Clottey Quintana all thats left is Pac Mayweather Berto and rematches... In two/three years he will be in a perfect position to retire.... having fought everyone there is to fight just about at welter.
He's a smart guy. It is the admirable thing to do to take care of your children full time and be there for them. I really respect him for walking away from the sport. And to be retired at age 30? that's the stuff dreams are made of. He's earned it.
Cotto is a smart cookie he is going to be able to retire and live happily he has invested and managed his money very well clean guy with no addiction's that we know of anyway.
I remember after like every fight Cotto fans would say "And the scary part is that he hasnt even reached his prime yet" now the man is talking retirement and everyone is saying he is on the decline lol
Yes he has already fought the established names he needs to fight what else is left? Two more years max will be enough. A logical talk from a respectable fighter.
its not bull**** ive followed cotto since he started and he has always stated that he will look to retire around 30....he signed the extended contract for 2 and a half years from top rank he is 28 now by then he will be 30...he has always stated that he does not want to become like so many other boxers have become with impaired speech or any other health problems.he also said he has 4 kids that need him to be a father figure and he has been setting himself up buying gas station after gas station in pr and also his own casino now...he has no addictions very mature n smart person.BUT I DO SAY THIS IF HE IS FOREAL ABOUT IT AND AT THE TIME THERE IS ANOTHER MEGAFIGHT OUT THERE THEN HE PROBABLY WILL STAY AROUND A LITTLE LONGER (I HOPE) thats just my opinion
Bingo. I'm a big fan of Cotto and respect whatever decision he makes. He has been a very vulnerable fighter in many of his fights, which has only added to his intrigue. He can take a beating and keep coming, sometimes seeming one punch from being knocked down and out. His chin is a bit of a mystery because while he doesn't get knocked out, he seems he could be. Intensely strong will. I hope the best for him.
I doubt PW will ever fight again at 147 IF he wins against pavlik. he won't be able make the weight comfortably.
im gonna hate to see him go but he seems sincere about his children and wanting to not be an absentee father. i selfishly want to see him fight margo again.
