He was doing well against Bowe until the big guy caught him how would he have got in if cruiser was 200lb then, or against those who moved up against e.g: David Haye RJJ James Toney Holyfield Moorer Tyson (96 version)
Haye sparks him out. RJJ sparks him out. Toney probabably sparks him out. Holyfield stops him. Moorer probabably does too. Tyson sparks him out. Poor Herbie! seems like a decent guy, some good skills, but cant mix with elites.
He most probably gets beat by all those guys. He was good but not great although he probably deserved some higher profile match-ups.
I'd pick him to beat RJJ by KO. Not sure about Haye or Toney. Holyfield would beat him but it would be a war same with Moorer. Tyson would knock him out. Tyson of 96 defeated Bruno and Seldon but lost to Holyfield. It would probably be a good fight while it lasted but I don't think Hide's chin would be able to last 12 with a 96 Tyson. I always thought after Hide defeated Bentt that he and Morrison would be a war. I could see both guys tasting the canvas. Not sure who wins that one because both guys were quick and had good power but both guys had questionable chins. Breaking down Haye and Hide I'd say it was a 50-50. I'd say Toney would be a 50-50 with a prime Hide, but I don't think Hide would knock him out. Toney has too good a chin and defense. Toney would have a small chance at winning by Ko, but it's likely to go the distance and be close.
Herbie was a banger. Real power, but no chin. Im sure I remember a fight where he went down 5 times in 2 rounds. I dont think he would stand a chance against any of them. Theres a possibility of RJJ getting sparked out, but i think he'd be too slick for herbie
Herbie had those real fast hands and a lot of snap on those shots early. He has a ton of brutal ko's to make a nice highlight reel of, as do all heavies with fast hands and snap against the B and C grade competition. I think Herbie wins a few and loses most. The best chins in those matchups are Evander and Toney of course so you tend to think they could weather the storms. But they could be outspeeded and lose a decision in there I suppose.

He was hardly dominated from start to finish. If he was, Herbie simply does not possess the whiskers to absorb punishment for 6 rounds. He was doing okay and made Bowe look slow in there and the bout really showed the downward slope of whatever footwork Bowe had. Bowe no longer looked quick. At his best it was mediocre and the Hide fight saw Riddick not bending at the knees for any sustained amount of time.
:blood How many rounds did you have Hide winning? At what point do you think Bowe took over? If Bowe was that bad and on the slippery slope against Hide, it doesn't say an awful lot for Herbie now does it?? :think
First 2 rounds. Bowe looked sluggish and the guy was a huge huge favorite in the fight. Bowe took over after about the first or 2nd knockdown. He wasn't even landing clean and the guy would be on the deck. But Bowe couldn't keep him there either. A sloppy fight at best and you definetely weren't watching the best heavies on the planet. I would've liked to have seen the bout take place in Herbie's backyard. He's a notorious hometown fighter and perhaps early success propels that crowd and he can ride the momentum. Maybe. Still, a much better chance than taking his act on the road. Plus, I wanted to see Bowe wearing the shoes of a road warrior a few times just to see if/how he'd handle it. Afterall, travelling to train not in the usual comfy surroundings and having the crowd 98% pulling for the other guy are big obsticles to overcome.
Who did Hide really beat of note - that hadn't been hammered by someone else peviously? His best win is over Tony Tucker - who had been well and truly bitchslapped by Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis in years gone by, and was 2-3 in his previous five fights - losing decisions to Seldon and Akinwande. Hardly great form. On topic, I'd say he loses to all of them by stoppage..... he might take Toney and Jones the distance but wouldn't bet on it.
Hide would certainly have a good puncher's chance against Haye, who's chin isn't much better than Hide's. Prime Hide versus current RJJ would win. Other than that, he probably gets KOed by all of them.
He knocks out Haye and Jones. He is knocked out by Tyson and Holyfield. He loses to Moorer and Toney.
