Thaxton of a few years ago makes it very interesting. Now, I think he has lost that step and Murray should catch up with him. It is possible Thaxton has just been off/sloppy in his last few fights and still has it in him.

I'm not sure if the Ingles teach a good style for when you get old. Relies heavily on reflexes, agility etc It doesn't use much intelligence. A few of them never used their head much when it came to pacing themselves, working behind a jab, good defence etc It's all about the ko and not enough about the possibility of a fight going to the cards.

Totally agree. I don't know how Limond isn't in the mix. What are the BBBofC doing.

How has he not fought for British or C'Wealth yet.

I think he is being avoided.

  3. Interesting eveyone seems to be writing Thaxton off completely based on his last 2 performances.

He wasn't exactly in tip-top shape last time out and I think he underestimated Glover who was well up for it.

He would have beaten Mezaache if the cheating ******* hadn't spat his gum shield out.

He'll be well up for this as he knows it's his last chance.

Murray by TKO 6th or 7th.

Still looking forward to this fight but its lost a lot of his appeal.

I'd rather see Murray stepping up and fighting Mezaache.

  5. This could be a turning point fight for Murray. He may be past his best but Thaxton is a reasonable known name to the wider public and that makes it a useful fight for Murray. If he wins and wins impressively then that fight with Mezaache can definitely be made and I'd back Murray to take him out. After that, he'd be in a great position.

Yeah I can definitely see him stopping Mezaache too. Thaxton will be a good name to have on his record, I just think its lost a lot of its meaning that fight.

Easy fight for Murray at this point I feel.

Still, should be a great fight while it lasts!

Would have been interested in this last year but not now. Limond should have got this fight.

Why couldn't this fight have happened a year ago?

When Thaxton won the European title it could have been his first defence - Murray wanted the fight and said that if he truly wanted to be considered the best 135lb'er in the UK he HAD to beat Thaxton.

So now, Mick waits while Thaxton gasses in a title defence, then blows a tuneup fight against Glover, then makes the fight :-(

Even if Murray beats Thaxton easily, it won't mean **** - unless it's by stoppage in a very convincing display.

Thaxton is over the hill so it's a pointless fight.

Why didn't he fight the french guy for the european title instead?
