I am curious to what people think would be the better win. We know Pac fans act like Pac beating De La Hoya (weight drained, shot, and old as hell, can't pull the trigger. Freddy Roach words not mine lol) was some great acheivement. These same fans also say PBF beating Marquez is a forgone conclusion because Marquez is so small. This is the same Marquez who is taller then Pac man and on fight night of Pac vs JMM II Pac went from 130 to 143 and JMM went from 130-141. Those are facts. Not a big difference in my opinion. These same people want to see Pac vs PBF though and don't view that as a mismatch. I mean Marquez is the number 2 pound for pound fighter in the world and has PROVEN not once but twice to be on the same level if not a level over Pac. I mean knock down three times and get a draw thats unheard of. Another side note has Pac beat JMM convincingly yet? :huh So what win is bigger Pac vs De La Hoya or PBF vs Marquez and please explain? I will go with PBF if he beats Marquez.
Well, depends how impress Floyd looks doing it. Marquez will be live at the weight, even if his footwork hasn't been as good at 135 as it was at 126 & 130. However, he will be a live opponent who gives everyone he has ever fought problems with that amazing, well-rounded technique & the counter-punching especially. If Floyd wins say 9-3... accurate punching (say upwards of 35% overall, and towards 45% on power-punches), that's a pretty impressive performance in theory. & imo would be better than Manny beating on a dead-man walking in Oscar when they fought. It may not look as good on a HL reel or on the sports round-up on whichever news channel it comes on the next day, but that's aesthetics for yah.
I agree with that statement very well put. I agree because Pac did look good and still did his job.:good
PBF beating Marquez at 143-144 While the weight is new and probbly not ideal for Marquez He is one of the best boxers around, and the weight is not so far from his ideal which I think is 130-140 that he can't be effective.
i think i misinterpreted the question prior to the pac-dlh fight, pac was a big underdog it was only after the fight that all the weight-drained shot stuff came out, so i still rate that as a big win for pac since he was such a longshot going in pbf is the prohibitive favorite against jmm and i expect him to win so in terms of expectations PRIOR TO THE FIGHTS, i rate pac's win higher and i'm a floyd fan btw
This answer will be clear after we see what JMM offers at that weight. Oscar had NOTHING to offer Pac at 147lbs.
Floyd is the best fighter on the planet he is the favorite against everyone he fights. Your a PBF fan you should know this. How could we know before the fight Pac was going to weigh more then De La Hoya on fight night? Calderon beats up Oscar that night lol.
its simple. jmm despite his age is p4p #2 in the world. floyd in his mind thinks he's numero uno. oscar wasn't even p4p anymore when he fought manny, but because of his size was the favorite
Styels make fights Floyd isnt a fighter. He is a runner. JMM needs someone who at least wants to fight. IE Pac. Where as Pac is better coming forard do to hsi fast feet and hands.
At least Marquez is in his prime. 10 lbs. above a good weight for him, but in his prime. De la Hoya was 10 lbs. below a healthy weight for him, and also shot. Still it was a very notable win for a natural featherweight like Pacquiao.
You guys are crazy ... a faded, shot DLH is waaay better than 85% of all fighters between 140-154. Marquez is good but lets not forget who we're comparing him to as far as common opponent for Pac.
I think this version of Marquez is a harder task than the version of Hoya that fought Pac TBH but its easy to be wise after an event & without doubt, Pac`s win over DLH will be a better win than FMJ over JMM. Floyd & Oscar are bigger than their opponents as well as being overwhelming favourites + Floyd is better than Pac also.
before the fight started with ODLH that would be looked at as quite impresive...the fact ODLH came into the ring at the same weight as pacman kind of nullified the win as huge...PBF is fighting a PRIME beast at 135 and if he wins impressively it will be bigger
not a 147 lb ODLH at fight time...he should have been 155-160....he was drained more than shot or faded
