Regarding the atmosphere of that fight I will say this. I can't think of an athlete here (stateside) that could get HALF of the fans here (and the US is obviously much bigger) to travel like that for one of their teams/athletes. NOt the Steelers, Tiger Woods, the Yankees, anyone. That was amazing in itself. In addition to the continuous singing AFTER the result,lol..
What made Hatton even more determined to outmuscle Floyd was the fact that Floyd got under Hatton's skin beautifully in the build-up to the fight.
I think the bang same as you about the fight mate i was devastated when ricky got knocked out lol i was in vegas for the fight and everything,Cortez ****ed that fight up for ricky big time though not letting him fight on the inside or anything :twisted:,omg and the point he took away ricky didnt even have a warning or anything, but at the end of the day like you said the best man won so congratulations to floyd, but wudnt it be great if ricky came back and just took khan to school lol ???
This was a sad fight to watch. Everyone wanted Ricky to win, but you could tell from the outset that he had no chance. The fight wasn't even close.
what a load of shite. Boxing will never see again? Gimme a break. and no, only Hatton huggers and the clueless boxing fans fell for the Hattonmanina and thought he would win, those of us who knew the gulf between the 2 fighters were all but sure PBF would win handily, which he did. This was not a smaller journeyman or a washed-up fighter, so it was unchartered territory for Hatton. as for the moaning about the point deduction and other excuses, face facts, dirty wrestler Hatton got beat at his own game and then picked apart. it wasn't the best performace of PBF career, either, beacuse it didn't need to me. Hatton's true level has been fully exposed now by others like Pac, Collazo etc......it didn't need to be a vintage display to beat up Wicky. PBF against Chico, not that was a schooling, vintage boxing performancde.
the cortez factor is just an excuse even as early as the first three rounds hatton wasnt getting off any effective work inside all that was done by mayweather who was too crafty inside for hatton. He worked hattons body tied him up so hatton couldnt get off inside. He gave hatton a taste of his own medicine no wonder he's been ruined since if he watches the fight with an unbiased eye he'll know he got outclassed in every department Very underrated performance by pbf he doesnt get enough credit for it
I think all the British fans (me included) knew in their heads it would be a very big ask of Hatton to beat Floyd. Us Brits have been in similar positions when it comes to sport on hundreds of occassions but we still cling on to the small hope that our boy/s can pull off an upset. It doesnt actually happen very often but when it does we let rip. Thats why Hatton inspries so much loyalty in his fans and they travel so far to see him. The British love a good loser. We have to. We've got so many of them! Even when Ricky was on the floor the fans still sang.
LMAO at the guy who can't believe the British fans were singing after Hatton got knocked out. So typically ignorant. 'Man I can't believe you're actually supporting that guy when he LOST! Don't you know you should be booing him now? :yep
:good anyway it was a good fight, Hatton fought well and Floyd showed he was the best, I was supporting Hatton but as soon it was over I was mostly in awe of how good Floyd was.
Went pretty much as I expected. I was hoping Hatton could pull off a miracle, but never felt like he would. I gave Hatton probably 2 rounds, but it wasn't surprising to see the US pundits give him more, as many American judges score for aggression more than clean work in those types of fights. Cortez was a disgrace. But if the ref had been perfect the only difference would have been that Hatton might have won 3 or 4 rounds before losing a wide UD or being KO'd like he was.
