What on earth does Nonito have to gain by letting the fight go on?? To me it just doesnt make sense, it's a lose lose situation and the risk he faces with a stronger Concepcion not having to kill himself to make weight is too great. Just look at what happened in Corrales-Castillo 2. Totally unprofessional and a total disgrace.
Donaire's opponent is a super bantamweight boxer... 119 lbs. is inside the super bantam division which is from 118.1 to 122 ... .
So Donaire goes up in weight... and the person he is meeting there FAILS to make weight? There is something terribly wrong with this picture.
he gains my respect and my hard earned money. Thank you Nonito for not puling out. So glad I don't have to refund my tix.
If it's vacant, can Nonito still gain the title even though Conception cannot? When Campbell did not make weight against Funeka he lost his titles, but Funeka could still win a title had he won. I don't know as it seems rules vary between sanctioning bodies.
The title can still be attained by Donaire should he win so yes it's the same scenario as Campbell-Funeka.
I'm just glad that the fight is still on. I was afraid of it getting canceled. It should be interesting seeing how Donaire fights at his new weight division against a bigger man.
