Barring a draw, one of them gets a notable win. On the other hand, one of them has to look even more useless.
What does this fight have to do with JC's legacy? He beat them both...and its styles make fights anyways. Makes zero difference.
It only helps his legacy if RJJ puts on a show, insofar as it'll suggest he got a win against a legit version of Roy. Obviously, that won't happen.
It makes no difference, because despite Lacy's limitations, he was ruined by his shoulder injury. It is unfair to judge him post injury as he is a shell of what he was. RJJ it doesn't matter because he is also a shell of his prime and Calzaghes victory over him means about as much to me as Holmes' win over Ali. Holmes was a great fighter but that victory means nothing to his resume. Likewise, Calzaghe was a great fighter but beating RJJ adds absolutely nothing to his career achievements in my mind. He would have been FAR better to have fought and thrashed Pavlik (which he would have) than to fight that show fight with washed up Roy.
That is the problem with Roy fighting on. If he keeps fighting and looking good, then it looks like he was not that washed up with Calzaghe or Tarver. So in someways fighting on makes him look like maybe he legitimately lost those fights. Which is why he should have fought the better guys when he was young and not when he got older like he fought Calzaghe later. Then he could have rested on his prime years and messed up a little when he got older.
