Yeah, maybes he's Bettys slightly more subtle alter-ego. He uses the extremely cunning tactic of prefacing some of his posts with "I don't hate Hatton but...." and "I'm not biased but...." in an attempt seem fair and even handed before he has a pop at Hatton....;O)
i dont hate hatton but i dont dislike hatotn but Well he is overatted..........and smartly managed fighter. Calzaghe, Hatton and Khan all smartly managed. Look at David Haye or Froch on how they really test themselves at every stage of there carrers without really going backwards. Gazoc points are purely baseless asumptions on the grounds that i dislike Hatton...........therefore your analysis is void by the simple equation of 'i dont care about his bloody personality' or what he says or how he looks or how big his house is or anything else bar my views on his boxing. Your slight but i have to say lovely twist on my belief that the 135, 140 and 147 division should merge was that of pure spin doctor at his very best. Il expand............we should have less divisions in boxing and scrap 3 pound or 5 pound differences as they devalue the notion of what in my humble opinion is watered down divisions. Do i have exact figures or ideas about what specifically each division should weigh? No..........but it still remains that.....there is not a huge difference between marquez, hatton, campbell, mayweather, cotto. and many more.........il touch on Cotto yes he is big for his weight but then certain fighters are always going to take advantage of there abilty to cut weight. If you want size difference then look at Ruiz and Valuev. We are in the business end of boxing where we want to see real results, real top class fighters without this notion of watered down divisions etc. This isnt cricket or golf........they are fighters......so if u give away 7 pounds at the lower weight then deal with it. We now have this silly notion that Amir Khan is a world champion but only becuase boxing has fragmented itself in endless pursuit of the short term goal of making money. Ricky Hatton an average world level operator who without doubt and proven with fact would never be able to deal with the very best........he is a lucky man and has come away from the sport with millions becuase promotors etc have managed to concieve ways of making more and more weigt divisions where we now have 9 weight champions and 55 time champions and blah blah blha.
Iv'e never said you disliked Hatton because of his personality, I said you seem unwilling (or unable) to assess his career in a fair minded fashion through bias. So much for that being the basis of you declaring my 'analysis' void and neatly trying to sidestep it with your "equation". I know you want to scrap the "3 or 5lb" differences in weight classes but 135 to 147 is quite a lot more than 5 lbs. The problem with boxing isn't the number of weight classes, people have know for years (even most of the 'junior' divsions have been around for over 50 years) that having them is needed to help ensure competitve fights, its the fact there are too many champions in the same weight classes.
I was thinking same. I thought this thread was gonna die out after a page or two yet it's done more pages and views then most threads done this week. Props to Betty Where there's a will there's a way and he certainly found the way to get people talking.
:goodI saw it Thing is,people say '**** off you drooling ****' or 'go **** some ladyboys you pervert'.Then they go on to discuss the topic in depth for 10 pages(and counting)
Don't worry, I wan't claiming 'first', I was just agreeing with you, mate. People bite every time:conf.
I've noticed in a few of these threads that you like to throw in the odd provocative post just to keep things ticking along and I just found it quite ironic that you're criticising other people for the length of the thread when you are also a contributory factor. You're not daft enough to take Bettys side totally because you know it can't be defended in an argument but you're not adverse to "teeing up the ball" for him now and again. Like throwing fish to a performing seal.... (thats not a criticism, just an observation)
