He lost to WBA lightheavyweight champ by a UD and got dropped once apparently. At least he was taken on the fast track, and not babified like Ortiz only to be destroyed by a big underdog. Being undefeated is underated. He'll come back from this and take away positive things (hopefully). Anyway credit to Campillo, most expected him to lose, despite Shumanov's lack of pro experience. Shame really, if Shumanov won it would have deepend the divison, but Campillo deserves credit.
All the more impressive about him losing a close UD is that it happened in his home country on a show he promoted. It would've been the easy call to set up a screw job on Campillo and it probably would've been expected by most. Props that it didn't happen. Either way, it sounds rematch-worthy! Shame we probably won't get to see it in the US until well after the fact.
If all boxers were managed the same way, our sport would be super popular again. No shame in losing to a world champion inside just 10 pro fights, actually, there's no shame in losing if you give the effort, and that's exactly what Beibut did, gave his fans an exciting, close fight, learned a lot of experience, and WFT, he's not even a pro for TWO years? His resume has already surpassed protected fighters' like Chavez Jr. and he's only getting better and better. Respect for both fighters. :happy
Ishy told us Beibut floored Champion Campillo by Hard left hook to the Chin. I was those guys who told Beibut gonna destroy Campillo and boy I was wrong. ****, Kid lost the fight but maybe won even more= damn precious Experience.
Certainly not the end of the World for Shumenov, this fight will have provided great experience for him against a very good fighter over 12 rounds and just because he's lost his 0 it doesn't mean it's a bad thing.
He's lost his '0' in what sounsd to be a very good learning fight; apparently started off well but got tired. The fighters traded KD's, Campillo was dropped in the 9th but dropped the Kazakhstani prodigy in the 12th. I'm sure he'll re-bound from this, losing a 'World' title fight within your first ten fights, on points no less, can only be a good thing IMO. Anyone seen the fight or can comment on what they think the future holds? A few more learning fights and a match with Erdei for the WBO seem inevitable IMO.
Literally? Or you don't like him? If that's the case, why? He's fought for a 'World' title within his first ten fights; he should be applauded for his willingness to take challenges.
To think in a years time Pascal, Cloud, Shumenov and Dawson could all be peaking. Well for Shumenov probably be two years, but man that's a round robin I'd like to see.
Good for Shumenov. Really. This is a learning experience for him... He shouldn't of been rushed that fast anyways but at least he will gain from this loss, hopefully.
