Whilst Eubank was getting on Calzaghe was as raw. The fight turned out to be something special indeed. :deal

Reid and Woodhall were both former World champions and at this stage they were very good wins for Calzaghe in a lively SMW division.

What people fail to realise is that Hopkins looked as good as ever in the run up to and AFTER Calzaghe beat him. So it makes little difference when they fought. But, when they did, Calzaghe left with his arm raised.

I give Calzaghe no credit for his win against Eubank but at the same time I dont criticize him for beating a shot Eubank because it was not his fault Eubank was to old to be fighting at SMW at that stage in his career.

Reid is a really good win for JC although I scored it for Reid by one point and Woodhall was just a paper champ and never more than Euro level but got luck in a weak division.

Anyway, enough of the digression, let's get back to the thread topic.

Why is it okay for RJJ to showboat against Lacy, but it wasn't okay for Calzaghe to showboat against RJJ?

The only answers I've seen on here so far are:

"Because Calzaghe looks silly showboating" - holds no water as this is a matter of opinion.

"Because you don't clown a legend" - who says? Is there an unwritten rule in boxing that you don't showboat against a legend?

You RJJ fans were all butthurt after Calzaghe clowned him, there was an uproar on here about it, people couldn't believe the audacity of Calzaghe, yet here we are, barely a day after RJJ clowns Lacy, and the above are the only 2 reasons you can come up.

So please, do explain why RJJ can do it and it's fine with you guys, but when Calzaghe did it to RJJ, it was such a terrible thing :deal

If you don't think he cares...why the **** are you here caring so much what others say and essentially living off Joe's accomplishment? You really think bragging about what JOE DID is a win for you? Moron...

jones showboated when he was losing against tarver and glen johnson. he once said in an interview i think with ring magazine that he would showboat whether he was winning or losing. that was earlier in his career. anyway, that's just what he does.

The worst was Vinnie Pazienza, who is a total *******.Never an ATG or even a "just" a great(poor choice of syntax),he even continued to showboat against terrible, shot fighters after he recovered from his broken neck. You think he would have learned some humility from his experience. But noooooo. You know the saying,"Once a dick, always a dick."At least Calzaghe had the panache to do it against serial showboater Jones and Roy had the same panache to do it against serial trashtalker James Toney. Not that I agree with showboating by anyone even though some of my all-time favs have done it.

Even though he was born in London,Calzaghe is from Cymru(pronounced KIM-ree),which is Welsh for Wales.

as a huge, huge jones fan i'll say it wasn't ok for roy to clown against lacy. as a supporter i've found his clowning to be acceptable in the past, even funny and amusing. against an overmatched and shot fighter, yes it's tasteless. i really thought after the beating he took from calzaghe he would learn what it's like and stick to fighting. i was wrong. joe c did nothing that jones hasn't done.
