I look at where your from UK? yeah your not biased at all just like most other posters from there By the way watch Barrett again his speed really isnt that impressive... Also Haye was never undisputed he never held all the belts.. and he never fought adameck or cunningham hard to clean out a division when you avoid the best fighters... Its just as likely a prime RJJ would stop haye considering haye has been knocked all over the ring by people naturally smaller then RJJ.. See Mock & Thompson.. Hell Mock had no power at Middleweight. and it took him ( Haye) tackling and holding on for dear life to get out of that fight... Haye's best win is who again? Mormeck barrett? oh Maccarelli.. truth is Haye has never faced a good opponent in his prime.. and is totally unproven at heavy he has fought all of two fights against a bum and a washed up person who was ko'd in two rounds by Fing cliff couser in 2 rounds!!! come on now that was his top ten test :yep.. Cliff Couser did it more then twice as fast as your hype job did it.. So Haye's power at heavy is either waay overrated or totally unproven against world class comp so to say he will go in there and blow away a prime RJJ is just crazy especially when its more likely that RJJ would land something on hayes poor chin then the other way around... All haye has proven so far is he is quite skilled at running his mouth then running with his tail between his legs...:deal
Newbie, be careful who you're speaking too. I disagree. For a Heavyweight, his hand speed is very impressive. Haye is a former undisputed cruiserweight champion, having held the WBA super world, WBC, WBO and The Ring magazine cruiserweight titles. The overriding point was that he accomplished pretty much all he could have as a Cruiserweight, and what do we do when he moves up to seek further challenges? Criticise him. David Haye had 10 fights under his belt when he went against the very tough and experianced Thompson. He was stopped as a result of exhuastion. That said, why are we pitting a prime Roy Jones against a green David Haye at Cruiserweight? I think the David Haye of today is a lot more mature accomplished, and he used the defeat as a learning experianced. It's a credit to him as a fighter. Roy Jones Jr fought his faire share of overmatched opponents throughout his career as well. He also had a hard time of stopping a great deal of them. That said, Roy has the far superior resume and is the much more accomplished fighter. You're reiterating what any half assed Boxing fan already knows. Congratulations. Seeing as you're quick to bring up David Haye's shortcomings as a 10 fight novice, why don't we discuss who has not only stopped Roy Jones, but laid him flat on his back? Lesser punchers than David Haye, less athletic fighters than David Haye, and much slower and smaller opponents than David Haye. That said, I don't think Roy being able to hurt Haye at Heavyweight is out of the realms of possibility either. Very smart. Let's completely disregard all of his victories and his success at Cruiserweight.
Haye is unproven at Heavyweight but what Roy did at the weight isn't all that great either. That said, I have said this countless times, there is absolutely no argument as to who is the more accomplished fighter. There is no argument that Roy was also a lot more accomplished than both Tarver and Johnson also. I think David Haye's physical advantages will be a huge factor if the two were to ever fight, and he also has a lot of ability himself that often gets overlooked.
what's your tirade about? on conditions giving by the threader it's now version of rjj against a now version of haye at 200Lbs? what are you talking about? what do you think gonna happen? glen kelly fight?
Truth is he hasnt shown his ability... its easy to look good against c- level competition when he steps up and fights the best then you can talk about his ability until then its just hype he needs to prove his talent in the ring... beatiing bums doesnt say much about how good you are..
Lets face it, anyone who isn't shot to shite and above average ability will probably beat Roy right now.
I think a lot of people misunderstood the significance of the Jones/Lacy fight the other night. It was completely insignificant.
I have no desire to see Roy Jones Jr clown shot fighters for a further 3-4 years. Jeff Lacy has made a career out of taking beatings this past few years, how is there any glory in clowning that? Joe should have been ashamed for what he did in the Jones fight also. He needs to go back home and reminisce over past successes. An unbelievable fighter in his day, Jones.
Calzaghe clowning Roy Jones is farrrrrrr worse than Jones clowning Lacy...Jones and Lacy are both past their primes so it wouldn't matter who clowned who.
