Goossen "I want Paul Williams to fight first and foremost in Oct."

Paul Williams' promoter Dan Goossen apparently is prioritizing his fighter's activity over a super fight against Kelly Pavlik; at least he is in regards to PTP's next fight. Goossen went on to say "It's imperative that we put him back in the ring" after referencing PTP's layoff dating back to his April 11th fight against Winky Wright. Gooseen also added that there wasn't any problem with fighting Pavlik but referred to his behavior over that last year as "erratic".

So who should PTP fight in October?

 

I can only see one choice: Either sturm or wait. The others are uninteresting fights.

 

Watch "pavlik is champ" is going to say Williams is officially a coward. Same with some pavlik fans ( not bo and dz)

For me Of course Mosley but knowing Mosley he won't step up cause he knows Williams would easily beat him. So i say either Dz or Martinez.

 

That argument holds no weight considering Pavlik's the one who caused the postponement.

 

Kermit Cintron..i've been wanting to see this fight since 2007 when both were on hbo card. I think he can beat cintron easily plus get ready for pavlik at the same time. Cintron is a big puncher and is tall like pavlik.

 

Felix Sturm is on vacation and hes having the rest of the year off. I doubt Paul is going to fight again below Middleweight. Because he will fight at Middleweight so hes ready to fight Pavlik next. Paul might fight Karmazin. A member from the Aussie forum informed us that Anthony Mundine has 3 US opponents on a short list. So maybe between them i don't know. But Paul is definetely a big ask for anyone at Middleweight. Maybe he goes up to Super Mid?

 

I don't blame Goosen for one bit cause he wants Williams to stay active and he's not available for a Paul Williams big fights in nov or dec vs Pavlik cause again on nov 21, Kessler vs Ward is happening in which Ward promoter is Goosen and Dec 5th Berto might be on that card but even if he isn't, it won't be good for Goosen cause a week later his fighter Chambers will be fighting Wlad i believe in germany in which it be Chambers biggest fight of his career. So oct 3 makes sense for Williams to stay active and not have a long layoff to wait on Pavlik in mostly 2010.

 

I might have to agree. I would love to see PTP take care of his unfinished business with Kermt. It would be a big win for him considering Kermit's last win over Angulo which has seemingly rejuvenated his career.

 

Its the right call.

He is far from a finished product, or even a polished product. He needs to get in there and keep improving.

If Pavlik one day gets his staph infection under control, Williams can fight him then. Until then I would not mind seeing Williams pick up a belt at 154.
