So Floyd comes out of "retirement" and fights Juan Manuel Marquez....ok, JMM has fought at about 135 for his last 2 fights and is CLEARLY one of the top fighters in the world....although this is a HUGE weight gain (upto 144) for JMM, i think Floyd deserves more credit for his choice.

Pacquaio basically destroys Floyds last 2 opponents, W's that kept Floyd at P4P no1. What options are out there for Floyd? the ulitmate goal is to fight manny pacquaio, but any smart fighter would not only realise the financial benefits of a tune-up, but it necessary to remove any ring rust that may of remained from a year lay-off. A man has destroyed your last 2 opponents that you had a few issues with, whats the obvious response? Defeat the man that has caused him trouble his whole career.

There is Mosley, but at 37...history will not serve a victory well, Cotto after the margarito beat-down no longer has the same attraction. Floyd, just like any fighter is looking for the biggest reward/smallest risk fight before he takes on a truly career DEFINING fight. He chooses a smaller fighter, but nonetheless....a man in the top P4P 3.

I am a HUGE fan of Floyd mayweather, as every true boxing fan should be through sheer appreciation for the sweet science, and agree he has not stayed at divisons long to mark his name enough, and avoided fights he should of taken (Margarito) and taken some easy fights along the way (Baldomir). BUT, his decision to fight JMM as a "tune-up" for the career defining fight for the 2 best boxers in the world and both future HOF'ers should not be overlooked as another classic FMJ soft-**** move.

He would of payed stand aside money to jump in the right with Manny it has been reported, this only indicates his true goal, He wants to fight Pacman. There is in reality a loft softer fights he could of taken, Its a bold move to fight JMM, no matter the weight, because it risks the potential superfight. I reckon alot out there would do something different considering all factors. It should be respected. No matter the result.

    Thoughts?

In the end it really doesn't matter who PBF fights. Before every fight he's gonna lose and when he wins everyone has an excuse after. If he would have fought Shane instead of JMM people would have said Shane is old and PBF is ducking JMM becasue he called him out. If he fought Pac he's fighting a small man and is ducking JMM, Cotto and Mosley. If he fought Cotto he's fighting a guy who went life and death with Clottey, ruined by Margo and is ducking Shane and Pac. He can't win with these haters. I guarantee you that when PBF beats JMM and if Pac beats Cotto and PBF-Pac fight and PBF wins he'll get bashed for that win as well. Haters won't really be satisfied until he gets KTFO like Jones did then they can tear him down and say he was a fraud with a glass jaw it's pathetic really.:-(

JMM is a great fighter but this fight does leave a bitter taste in the mouth, as he is obviously being handpicked.

Cotto, Pac, Mosley, Williams, Berto etc would have been beter options.

I don't think Mayweather gives a **** what haters say about his choice of opponents. If he fought Pac then Pac is microscopic in size yet Cotto fights him and people back him up for trying to make the SMALLER opponent move up in weight more. If he fights Mosley then Mosley is so shot he needs to be pushed on a wheelchair on fight night to make it in the ring.

All that means jack****, I'd like to see him fight Pacquiao/Cotto winner or Mosley if he beats Marquez next. If the Marquez fight is close/tough and exciting then a rematch shouldn't be out of the question.
