Ring Magazine is a Joke...Juan Diaz Ranked 5th at Jr. Welterweight

Not surprised at all. Did anyone really believe that Oscar purchasing the Ring would have no impact on this magazine's credibility? The prestige that used to accompany the Ring has gone down the shithole. I don't give a damn how the Ring ranks any fighters from now on to be honest.

And yes all those fighters you named deserve to be ranked higher than Diaz. Malignaggi is not top 5 at 140... yet beating him (not even.. I had it a draw) suddenly makes Diaz top 5? Makes me wanna puke.

 

And Diaz should be dropping weight.. not going up in weight... his chubby ass. He can make 130 easy if he just trains hard enough. 135 is fine.. 140 though? He's going to get bullied around at that weight. He already has lack of power as it is at 135

 

How the fuk is Kahn at 3 and Hatton at 2 that says it all in my opinion

In terms of resume and 'what have you done for me lately holt, torres, maidana have all had recent losses which is a reason to relegate them a bit

i'm afraid i'm not seeing this biased. what are the examples of ring favouriting GBP fighters AFTER oscar bought the magazine? Diaz isn't the only example of shitty ranking: they do it fairly frequently

 

Pre pacquiao , hatton must be considerred the favorite against any other 140 , maybe except prescott , and maybe not.
ring and boxrec ranking are based on the past and not on speculant asessments , so , maybe today's hatton would lose to many of the top 10 140's today , but is still much more proven than them.
if you want speculant/futuristic factors to get into considerration , which maybe is a good idea - so you are supposed to agree with haye ranked so high at 201+ (how is that , really ).
isn't haye another gbp fighter ?

khan at 3 is wrong though. about ricardo torres , i think he won't be at 140 anymore.
maidana is still not proven enough at elite level , so he might be exposed as a disapointment. just remember that the kotelnik who went the distance with him , lost to khan , i still don't say maidana is not good , just that he is not proven. and hatton is proven : tszyu , phillips , castillo , malignaggi (the only one to stop him , to this day). same ranking problems you complain about in boxrec (hatton #2 , diaz #5) , except , here khan is at a more reasonable place (#7).
diaz at #5 is not that wrong , only shows the weakness of 140 at the moment. a ranking lower than #5 for him is okay , but so is #5.

Well, as far as Hatton, the fact is that no matter what perception of his decline we may all have, he's only lost once at light welterweight. He was the top man, undefeated at that weight until the Pac fight. So, it's not exactly nonsense if they rank him at two. Even if it's highly unlikely he'll come back to meaningful competition with elite fighters again.

Cotto won a hard deserved fight against Clottey and was demoted from the p4p list because he had a tough time against him. Which I didn't understand because Clottey is a dangerous welterweight and that fight should made Cotto more credible:think

Diaz got owned and received a (suspicious) decision. His display was just too sad and ring awards him that ranking?? WTFatsch

 

Since its inception in 1922 it has shown to be a viable piece of boxing history and boxing analogies. But I will agree that since Oscar bought it it has become a little biased in its rankings. But to each his own.
