    Yes, it is pretty simple:

    1. It is not a rumour.

    2. That is your opinion, not fact.

    3. Why take umbrage at something that wasn't an accusation but merely an expression to highlight that while you question the validity of the original Calzaghe vs Hopkins fight scenario, you are quite happy to believe anything bad you read about Calzaghe...where? Ah yes, the internet.

    4. Irony?

I think the main problem with this is; I haven't made an argument, because there is no argument to make. I simply responded to bigoted and illogicial comments, comments which you have taken onboard and tried to legitimise by arguing semantics. I'm not interested in some tit-for-tat debate over some feebly made point. Seriously, "a yank judge voted for yank fighter" is a comment worthy of my time and this debate?

I honestly believe Kessler will become the next SMW king and p4p top 5, just because I say it doesn't make it true although it could happen.

Oscar being KOed by a bigger man while ahead of the scorecards means Hopkins' size didn't play to an advantage? Hopkins was moving Oscar with every shot after the 5th round or so and Hopkins isn't a big puncher.

Trinidad may have been a legit Middleweight by size - barely but he didn't do much in that division at all.

Funny how you completely disregard the fact that Calzaghe beat Hopkins and instead focus on his last sentence

Speaks volumes of your unwillingness to actually discuss the thread title as opposed to changing the subject in your attempts to drag Calzaghe down :yep

It certainly was 'worthy' of your time when it suited you i.e. when you thought you could undermine pugilist64's credibility by arguing it :hey

Superficial little flourishes like numbered bullet points aren't going to carry any sway with me. Trying to take the intellectual high ground, and then asserting that all my thoughts and opinions on Calzaghe are tainted by some pre-determined bias, really just highlights a lack of integrity on your part.

Passing off some rumor you read on the internet, as proof of Hopkins' cowardly and shameful ducking of Calzaghe is the real irony here, because the thing which are accusing me of (some rabid bias, where the slightest sniff of a rumor is enough to prove any disparaging opinion) is exacly the kind of behavior you're engaging it.

But, despite all your little imperfections ("umbrage" - really, wtf ), I'll let you explain to me why Ricky Thornberry and Tocker Pudwill (amongst many, many others) are NOT bums and nobodies?

waffle waffle waffle not a lot of substance.

I see now you're critiquing my use of words? You think 'umbrage' is an imperfection?

I don't need to 'try to take the intellectual high ground' - your lack of intelligence automatically places me there.

Again, you know it is not rumour.

No, the onus is on you, the accuser, to prove that these fighters are bums and nobodies.

If you choose to make such a statement, you must be prepared to back it up, otherwise you lose all credibility - not that you had any to begin with.

I'm thinking that by "undermine" what you actually mean is "respond to", because the only way not to "undermine" such a post, is to respond with a similar level of idiocy, so as not to embarrass the original poster. So congrats for that :good

I suppose it stems from the fact that I don't attach any credibilty to likely bigots who are incapable of coming up with good examples to make their points (especially when those points are so incomprehensibly vague that they become irrelevant to the issue which is being discussed)

I attach even less credibility to people who then come along and side with the idiot, just for the sake of argument.

The reality is: you are not privy to such negotions. It is a rumour, you did read it on the internet, and you are trying to pass it off as factual proof of everything you have to say on this subject. Which is fine, if you can bring something else to the table, like an opinion that doesn't just tow the line for team Calzaghe perhaps?

I suppose that's too much to ask.

Ah, personal insults - A sure fire way to make yourself look big and feel great, always best to get the last word in, especially when you've just been owned, right?:rofl

I suppose its better than actually being right about something, or having the ability to make your argument in a coherent way - which is something you are blatantly incapable of doing.

Have a nice day at work. :hi:

Hopefully next time you'll raise your game a little.
