Unfortunately, I was not old enough to really see Roy Jones Jr's prime, my viewing of him has been restricted to the fights with Tarver, Johnson, Trinidad and Calzaghe. Also, videos on youtube.

What I want to know is, was he really as untouchable as people say? Did he ever get hit flush?

I was lucky enough to watch Roy through his prime and he's by far the greatest fighter I have ever seen. He could pretty much do whatever he wanted in the ring.

Watching tape on alot of fighters, he seems to be the most naturally gifted of them all. His only real competition being Sweet Pea.

Roy Jones in his prime was an athletic wonder, those where good times. Untouchable is a strong word though.

He was defintly the closest to untouchable since a young Ali and Tyson. The greater thing about Jones was his longevity. He was consistently ranked as one of the best fighters P4P in the world for a decade. Thats a long period of dominance. Only after his fight with Ruiz did his decline become sooo noticeable.

among the most naturally gifted ever.

Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, Roy Jones, Pernell Whitaker and Floyd Mayweather are the most gifted boxers I've ever witnessed. There're a lot of boxers that rate higher than Jones, Whitaker and mayweather but on a skill for skill and pure talent basis those 5 are the most naturally gifted I've ever seen

He was possibly the most physically gifted fighter to ever put on a pair of gloves. His reflexes, hand speed, and foot speed were off the charts. He seldom lost rounds in his prime. He had a few tough fights but for the most part, he was untouchable. The best fighter of this generation.

fights to watch to see jones at his best

These are NOT the best opponents but when I think you got to see Jones do what he does the best:

    1)Reggie Johnson
    2)James Toney
    3)Griffin 2
    4)Vinnie Paz
    5)Richard Hall
    6)Clinton Woods
7)Tarver 1 (cause he was finally challenged)
    8)jorge vaca
    9)malinga
    10)John Ruiz

the man at his best is the single most naturally talented fighter of the past 50 years.

Everybody gets hit flush. RJJ was hit flush a few times by lesser fighters, at times due to his showboating and/or bad habits. He was just great enough to overcome it. Don't listen to morons with their "RJJ has no chin" talk, the guy took punches and got through it. He could just see them coming, brace himself for it and move on.

Part of the fun of RJJ is that even when fights got boring, he had a way to make them interesting enough to keep watching. Not only where you waiting for the big KO shot to come, You were watching him come up with new ways to showboat and even do things boxers normally shouldn't do. I remember against Louie Delvalle, he ran off the ropes like a pro wrestler, leapt in the air and landed in his fighting stance as if begging Delvalle to throw a punch. Before Delvalle could throw anything, Roy had already hit him with a jab to back him up. He did **** like that constantly.

Just a show. Some guys are just a show.
