    Thank you everybody for voting

    Some great results here

    Jake Lamotta WSD15 Bernard Hopkins

A tightly contested battle here that had the purists loving it. Hopkins won the early rounds by controlling the range and the ring. However Lamotta was coming on with his relentless pressure and soon Hopkins controll was fading and Lamottas aggresion was shining through. The end decision was controversial it just depended on how you seen the fight.

Tiger Flowers UD15 'Non Pareil' Jack Dempsey

A rough and tumble boxing match here with both guys putting up a valient effort. Jack just didnt seem to be able to get to grips with Tigers slick counterpunching style and couldnt really get into the fight but won rounds here and there.

    Marvin Hagler UD15 Mickey Walker

Already this fight has been proclaimed fight of the tournament. Both boys came to fight and figth they did. Though cut Haglers more superior skillset shined through as he used his boxing skills to win the tighter rounds and ultimatly win the fight.

    Harry Greb SD15 Dick Tiger

Another rip roaring fight from the 2nd round. These 2 are perhaps the toughest guys in the tournament. Grebs fast hands piled up the points early as he swarmed in and out of Tigers range. Tigers steady pressure and counterpunching started to pay dividends in the middle rounds but Greb gave a big push for the final rounds and pulled it out in spectacular fashion. The general consensus is Greb won but 1 or 2 people thought Tiger won it just as he landed the harder blows.

    Charley Burley UD15 Stanley Ketchell

A boxing display from a genius. Burley boxed brillaintly not letting the wilder Stanley in to the fight with great movement and a consistent jab. Stanbleys powerpunching and aggresion won 2 or 3 rounds but ultimatly this was a Burley boxing clinic showing why he is the dark horse for the tournament.

    Robert Fitzsimmons TKO6 Ray Robinson

What an upset! Ray started off well out boxing the more 'primitive' Fitzsimmons with clever movement and a stiff fast jab. Fitz started landing some good bodyblows in theses first few rounds but they werent enough to win it. Fitzsimmons started coming on and fighting even with the favrouite Ray Robinson. Fitz was proving very clever and showed in his smart counterpunching. In the 6th Fitz landed a right hand counter swing over a Ray Robinson jab and followed it up with a double left hook to the body and chin with Ray Robinson falling but rising at '8'. As Ray was still hurt, Bob went for the finish with a devastating left hook and the referee stopped the bout as soon as Ray hit the canvas.

Roy Jones Jr UD15 Mike McCallum

Roy Jones showed why he could win this tournament by using his god given speed to outpoint the tough Mike McCallum. Roy started quick using his fast hands and feet to rack up points but Mike was working the body looking to slow him down. Mikes body work payed off as Jones had to ease off for some rounds and McCallum took advantage and took these rounds but in the end they werent enough and Roy proved Victorious.

    Monzon UD15 Marcel Cerdan

Monzon in the eyes of many can win this tournament and showed here he is the real deal by out boxing the tough Marcel Cerdan with punishing straight shots and just not letting him in close. Cerdan made the fight competitive by pushing forward but was ultimatly outgunned by these hard straights from 'King' Carlos.

    The Quarter Finals

    Jake Lamotta vs Tiger Flowers

The Raging Bull is again matched with a wily counterpuncher.

    Marvin Hagler vs Harry Greb

2 tough warriors with great boxing skill go at it, in a fight that many think could decide the tournament!

    Charley Burley vs Robert Fitzsimmons

The upset king Fitzsimmons fights Charley Burley who showed in his last fight why he's a force to be reckoned with.

Roy Jones Jr vs Carlos Monzon

The speedy slickster vs the smart boxer-puncher.

good fights here and the competition really is looking good, every fight could go either way IMO.

Rules for the Quater Final are:

    15 x 3 minute rounds
Using a ruleset that would be found today.

and remember no reason, no vote.

Based on the Robinson thread, Fitz pretty much has this tourney locked up now doesn't he? What a sham.

How ****ing absurd is it that the only man to get stopped in this tourney thus far is Sugar Ray Robinson, the greatest fighter of all time who was never stopped in his career outside of the Maxim fight (which we all know the circumstances of)? I mean, what the ****?

Fitz is maybe the hardest puncher of all time at the weight though.

But I agree that this is a disturbing twist and it might indicate that a redress is required on the forum.

No-one's blaming you chum. Tis a good tournament.

Why wasn't Holman Williams in it? Eddie Booker would have sewn this shower of **** up.

    Travesty.

Hopkins losing a decision to LaMotta and Robinson being KO'd in any fashion.
