Who wins this fight? Personally I see Shumenov by late round TKO due to Cleverly's stamina more than anything but will be interesting to see if these two prospects ever do fight ( Hopefully for a world belt or unification bout )
interesting. personally i think cleverly should fight woods next (that is if he hasn't retired, and should he win that as i would expect) then he might a fringe fighter as shumenov is currently. but out of the two i would hope for cleverly to win, but i wouldn't be sure as shumenov also has great potential.
Same here man, Id like to see cleverly beat woods down which i see as very possible ( good indicator to see where he stands against the title holders ) And i would be routing for him all day long against shumenov as hes a fellow welshman but I just see Shumenov winning at this stage of their careers but I only see that due to Nathans stamina as he studies at uni so he dont have as much time in the gym
fair point. but his stamina hasn't been a significant issue so far, although he did punch himself out a little bit against mackintosh whilst looking for the ko. but he did go the full 12 with tony oakey and he's quite a tough *******, so i don't really doubt his stamina, but i don't think his jaw has been tested enough, and against a strongish puncher like pascal it might let him down.
Thats what i mean, the only thing that worried me in the mccintosh fight was that he did punch himself out whilst Calzaghe could throw as many punches all night and not break a sweat, But if he could go the distance or even KO woods then that would prove hes of some good talent at world class be it B level or higher
but the thing with calzaghe was that he didn't put alot into his punches (especially during the latter part of his career when his hands were ****ed/hence no ko's for ages) whereas cleverly loaded up almost every punch he threw that night. the only reason calzaghe could throw so many puces was because of this, its kind of like how amir khan throws in flurries as well (but where he is so feather fisted he doesn't gas himself). a fight with woods is hopefully on the cards. woods has a decent chin, but isn't much of a puncher anymore, but he has masses of experience and has fought some of the best light heavies currently around (roy j jr and johnson), and i think this would be very winnable for cleverly, especially if he could ko him (cloud couldn't) and that would show him he is ready for the world stage.
Fair evaluation, but best not go into too much depth yet, Cleverly is fighting again in september against someone yet to be named so hopefully we will see some improvement. Still back to my original point Shumenov lost a close debatable decision to Campillo but that proves he can be outboxed to an extent and maybe cleverly could be the first person to beat him decisevly.
