Tony Margarito kicked Miguel Cotto's ass LEGITIMATELY!!!!!!!!
To infer anything else is conducting a witch hunt. Nothing that was in Margarito's wraps would have been any danger to his opponent. So give the guy his licence back let him earn a living. You haters have no objections to two known steroid abusers STILL being allowed to fight , Jones & Mosely, so why pick on an innocent man

And I am no Margo fan... by any stretch. But he whipped Cotto's ass. Period.

Styles make fights not ABC triangle theories. Although Margo had a closely contested fight with Williams I think Paul would absolutely murder Cotto if they fought. There's no way he could last 12 rounds against Williams with his stamina and chin issues. Margarito walked through Clottey, took his heart and beat him with just pure workrate but Cotto went life and death with the guy yet managed to eek out a close decision over Mosley.

If Cotto really feels so wronged by possibly being cheated by Margo he should be screaming for a rematch and kick Margarito's ass or at least threaten to in public. The truth is deep down inside Cotto knows that Margo would beat his ass up even worse than before.

You can't just say that he only used it against Cotto, that's just plain ol' stupid.

So your trying to say that even if Margarito had plaster in his wraps that it would'nt be a danger to his opponent?....Now that just as ******ed of a statement like Ricky369 statement above. And please don't try to put steroid users in the same category as glove loaders. Though both are cheaters we can all agree that glove loading is a bigger sin.

    1. We don't know for sure if and when he cheated except for the Mosley fight, but the fact that he tried to cheat leads to the logical assumption that the ****er had tried that **** before. But yeah, claiming that he did it only in the Cotto fight is bullcrap.

    2. The sudden and meteoric rise of his KO percentage right after he got Capetillo as his trainer is a very weird coincidence.

    3. As another poster said, it's also weird that Margo's punches on Mosley, even those few that landed flush, looked like they had nothing in them. My impression has nothing to do with Mosley being a granite-chinned fighter, I remember watching the fight and Margo's punches looked too damn weak.

    4. Shut the **** up you nuthugging piece of **** gaylord. :good

For those that talk about videotape at the Cotto fight....who gives a ****? The hard inserts were concealed inside regular ****ing gauze. People watched his hands get wrapped in the ****ing Mosley fight and they did not catch it until they asked for the hands to be re-wrapped. What the **** part of concealed dont you understand. Its not like the **** is a ****ing brick. Nazim didn't know what the **** it was until it fell out after he felt the wrap he thought was a little hard..

And you were obviously in the dressing room. What a joke. This guy has been suspended from boxing in the US and people still believe this was his FIRST TIME CHEATING! If you had read through this thread he would have had more To GAIN by Beating the undefeated COTTO on PPV! If he would have lost he would have been mired in nowheresville with his only option of moving up in weight. Which would then have certainly ended his career!

NO ... Cotto would've never been able to beat Margarito w/ that game plan ... it had nothing to do with the glove because before Cotto ... Margarito had 5 L's on his resume ... that fight was Cotto's for the taking and he couldn't capitalize ...

Stylistically a bad match up for Cotto !!

I agree that Margo's style isnt the style that Cotto matches well with (unless you are talking about excitement...because that was one hell of a fight)...but to say that "IF" he had loaded his gloves it wouldnt make a difference is RIDICULOUS! His punches would be harder, Miguel...who already cuts fairly easily...would cut easier, Margo's excellent workrate would do more damage per hit. It would do nothing BUT help.

The people saying that it wouldnt have made a difference are delusional. The outcome still may have been to Tony...but it DEFINATELY aided his cause.

    That is...if it happened.

He broke Cotto down ... it wasn't like he was hurting Cotto with one punch, it was an accumulation of punches ... it wasn't until the 9th or so round when Cotto was starting to fade ... he looked tired (like he exerted too much energy) ... he was breathing through his mouth (his nose was broken and the size of a cucumber) ... and he was taking severe shots to the body ...

It was a back and fourth fight and it was even until the 8-9 round(s)... I just seen Margarito being more relentless (not stronger or harder hitting) his chin was better and his body attack was better ... if anything Cotto hit Margarito with the harder punches, Margarito could just take a punch better.

So again, you are hanging your hat on saying that if he was loading his gloves in this fight, it didnt help and wouldnt make a difference???

    :patsch

Listen, I picked Margo to win that fight...but to say that in the hypothetical situation where it was proven he used illegal wraps (which is what we are discussing) that it didnt help is assinine. If your hurt, you lose your stamina faster...if your gloves are loaded, your punches will do more damage (INCLUDING TO THE BODY!!!).

    Your delusional. Im sorry...

Margarito has always been a good body puncher and you see that in the end of the first round ... Cotto's nose was broken and he fought 10 1/2 rounds with a broken nose ... he was also fatigue from breathing out of the mouth and doing a bit too much moving.

There are so many factors that come into the break down of Miguel Cotto ... he admits he was tired ... his arms ... his legs ... and he was breathing through his mouth ...

He was also being pressure like he'd never seen before ... and anyone who has followed Miguel Cotto knows that he isn't accustommed to being pressure and when he was pressure he didn't look his best for that period of time _ but in the case of the Margarito fight, he was pressured from the opening bell.

He was also getting hit to the body like never before ... he was moving like never before ... his punches were smothered ... the ring was getting cut off ... he was letting Margarito get off on the inside and wasn't trying to tie up !!

Looked just like Kermit Cintron 1 and 2 ...

Now just to say he did load up his gloves ... there's no say when he began loading up his gloves and he was losing ... the loaded gloves didn't take away from the fact that he was slower than Cotto ... it didn't take away from the fact that he wasn't as good a boxer as Cotto ... and it didn't take away from the fact that Cotto was the champion.
