Give examples of boxers who have a much better skill level than there resume for whatever reason. My pick is Darius michalczewski. He fought a few decent names like Virgill Hill, but was much better than that skillwise.
what is this thread for ? you know they will come with calzaghe and kessler:rofl. but serious chices are: sanderline williams , reggie johnson , steve collins , jorge fernando castro , orlin norris , steve little , quartery ,jose luis lopez. joey maxim is overlooked by those who never forget archie moore. jersey joe walcott overlooked by those who never forget charles.
yeah i think you read the title wrong. I think he's askin which fighters are better than there records rather than the other way around. In that case you can't go wrong with the Drunken Master Emmanuel Augustus
Calzaghe, Mayweather, Pryor, Tszyu, Roy Jones. All fought and beat some great fighters, but still didn't maybe do their talents justice in terms of comp faced. Then again, the argument could be made they did the best they could with the opponents available in their era. All top fighters, either way.
i didn't understand the second part at all. as someone who read the title right , can you give examples ?
Winky Wright. Great wins over Mosley and Trinidad but by the time he got the exposure, he was already 32 or so and no one wanted to fight him. He would've beaten DLH and PBF at 154 and that would've done wonders for his resume.
Good one with Golota but you gotta be kidding me with Harrison he was a joke. Whitaker is another another one, robbed in some fights that would have improved his resume.
Another good one I thought of is Gerald Mcclellan. Poor resume with only Julian Jackson, old John Mugabi and Nigel Benn on it. I know he was only 28 when the Benn fight happened (there abouts) but he had had 30 plus fights. However he was very good, quick hands, good combinations and crazy power. Defence was lacking however.
Most British fighters have **** resumes, compared to their actual ring ability - barring Lennox Lewis of course. Hatton, Calzaghe, Woods, Witter and Haye all have fairly weak resumes in relation to their abilities as fighters.
I said Audley from the point of view that he has the physical attributes and skills, but he does not have the mental make-up of a professional fighter. If he were significantly more aggressive/fearless he could have done quite well.
Jermaine Taylor? Or are we moving into underachievers category. I liked that Khao San Galaxy guy from clips...
