What are your thoughts on it....Good, bad, great, packed with names, or somewhat lacking?

He should have a win against Chavez for a start which would improve it alot. Overall its impressive but doesnt really reflect how good he was, for me he drew against DLH and at his age against a prime ATG that was remarkable. Hes got plenty of decent wins over guys like McGirt and Nelson but he deserves more.

It's pretty impressive as is, but if you consider the "D" against Chavez to be a "W" then it becomes fantastic.

very impressive for the amount of fights he had.

packed in a top career in about 40 odd fights, just as good as anyother old time HOFer but without the filler fights and perhaps lower rated contender wins.

Coupled with his skills, a lock for the lower half of the top ten of all-time IMO (post-1930)

Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker was a genius and a top 3 all time Pd 4 Pd techinican and ring general in my opinion , a true master of ring craft and ring generalship.

He had an excellent resume, particularly for a modern era fighter. Started fighting good comp early (Roger Mayweather in his 12th fight) and never let up.

He beat DLH, too, so add that win to his resume.

Should have a win over Julio Cesar Chavez (plus Chavez had a advantage in the weight) which is brilliant. Reminds me of a Mayweather-Pacqiuao fight in the way that it is a excellent defensive boxer against a excellent offensive boxer.
Many people thought he beat a prime Oscar De La Hoya (I don't but was very close) and he also gave Trinidad a very tough fight (if i remember right). Apart from these blips he fought loads of great boxers like Azumah Nelson, Greg Haugen, Freddie Pendelton and James Mccgirt. Its rare that a guy of this ability has a resume nearly equal of his skill, but I believe he does.

Ezzard Charles should be a top ten lock. Eder Jofre can be added to your 'maybes' as well. Good list though. :good

Arguable, I had it a draw. Nevertheless, it was an amazing performance from an ageing ATG against a prime ATG.

I had it a draw as well, but only because of the point deduction that might not have been completely fair (maybe it was?), but at times i saw a past prime Whitaker schooling a prime Oscar. Still Oscar did what he did and i don't take from that, but the skillset difference was certainly apparent in that one.

It's good. It just lacks marquee names on his win colum. Eg; Vazquez was a brilliant win, but he wasn't a big name. Just a solid well rounded and durable jr middleweight.
