I remember seeing a interview with James Toney where he said Iran Barkley was the hardest puncher he's ever faced and had him pissing blood for weeks. Interesting sure I recall a interview with Freddie Roach who said Toney was the most naturally talented fighter he has ever worked with. Praise indeed.

Fighters always say that the guy they beat was better than the guys they lost to.

 Sad, but true, pride is a very big part of prizefighters. Its gotta to be much easier to praise a guy that you beat than a guy you lost to, especially when at least one person saw the fight your way.

Just curious how different this list would be had Toney fought, hmm, Wladimir Klitschko a year ago. I doubt it would change much at all, just curious, especially since it will hopefully never happen.

I can hardly remember Barkley landing a punch on Toney that night. I do recall Toney saying it was his most important fight - one that no-one expected him to win. Can't remember what the fight odds were at the time but I find that hard to believe.

JLH is certainly right - fighters love to praise a guy who they just beat but are quick to downplay the abilities of anyone who gets the best of them.

Fighters DO NOT always say that, to say fighters always say that is disrespectful. "SOME fighter have said that" would be a better statement.

"SOME" indicates not a majority...how about "MOST" or USUALLY", or better yet "VIRTUALLY ALL".

Anyhow, I think most people get the idea when I said "always". No need to call out the grammar squad for that minor exaggeration.

Doesn't mean he wasn't jealous. Wilt was considered the greatest of his era and Jordan was being talked about as the greatest of all time. Wilt dropped 100 pts onetime, that means Wilt couldn't have been jealous?

Toney would've knocked Roy Out? hahaha.. he wouldn't have been able to catch him. Come on son! Be realistic.

If the weight was a problem and Toney ended up fighting Roy in perfect physical shape, maybe its a closer fight. ... but I doubt it. You can't take this one away from Roy.. The fight wasn't even close. Roy whipped him out.
