Are you born with one punch knockout power if so where does it come from e.g legs, heavy hands, big hands, genetics or something else.
Lots and lots of different variables all coming together but for equal sized fighters technique is the main difference. In that sense it's like kicking a ball, swinging a golf club... Obviously that's an over-simplification but essentially it's technique.
Guys with concussive power are born with it. Its definitely enhanced by improvement of technique and delivery but the guys with serious power are born with it.
Pure technique. However some people naturally have natural co-ordination to generate massive torque. Others need to be taught the technique. Heavy hands in terms of their actual weight is a significant factor also. A ball on the end of a chain will strike an object with greated force than a stick of the same length. The energy must be concentrated at the receiving end.
you are born with it. ofcourse you can train it (to some level) and learn the technique (to some level) it's the same as with soccer (some can pass a ball over 60 meters right on th spot they want it to come) or whatever sport you got it or you don't
Leverage has a lot to do with the execution of a punch ( Tommy Hearns found his power in the pro's) balance but real punchers are born with POWER and sometimes looks can be deceiving....I have seen all types, thin,Fitzsimmins, Breyland,Hearns Fat, Two Ton Tony Galento, Butterbean,Sam Peter, Lean with round shoulders, Julian Jackson, Short and stocky Marciano,Langford,Walker,Tyson... perfect form Joe Louis...ETC.
Its definitely technique which incorporates speed , co-ordination, movement of the shoulder, movement of the body, stance etc..... Of course, some people are born with great technique and this comes naturally to them, others can learn it but probably wont be as consistent a power puncher or as truly devestating as someone who was born with it.....
There is also a degree of "snap" at the end of that ball and chain. The ball has weight/density and the chain provides the motion that multiplys the force of the impact. Some of the biggest and most muscular guys have nowhere near the "snap" at the end of their punches whereas a guy like Hearns, his shot could almost resemble a bullwhip at full extension when executed perfectly.
Punchers are born not made. Yes alot of people dont even know they can punch hard beacuse of lack of technique. But all the training, all technique in the world is not going to give a man the knockout power if he doesnt have it. 230 pounds muscular heavyweight with good technique can be feather-fisted to the point he couldnt knock out a midleweight with a single punch while a 165 pounded man can have the power to knock out heavyweights. I have seen it myself and many boxing legends have stated the same. I dont know what the puncher has to be born with it. Bone mass-strenght? Lucky combination of several different muscle group strenght? I have no idea. However one thing is clear: punchers are born, knockout artists are made.
