Anyone Think Size Will Have Nothing To Do With Cotto Beating Pacquiao?

Or is that the only card Cotto is really holding?

If Cotto and Pacquiao were naturally the same size, could Cotto win anyway?

Size and strenght are cotto's advantage. If cotto were the same size he wouldn't have a chance. Cotto isn't as good as the guys PAC has already bested within the last 6 yrs. MAB, EM and JMM are all better than Cotto.....but Cotto would crush MAB, EM or JMM at 145 or 147. I think PAC will take this fight with Cotto....I'm not saying it will be easy....Cotto is dangerous and very capable, but this is a Great Little man vs a Very good Big man. PAC is too fast and has too many natural gifts that are in his favor. MIguel has the power, size and strenght advantage but I don't think that will be enough.

size is his major advantage in this fight but no his "only card".

I'm a huge believer that speed kills, so no I don't think Cotto could handle pac if they were the same size. His power, however, will crush pac...

Who do you consider to be the more skilled of the two fighters?

Cotto seems to do well against smaller guys that have speed and movement. It's the big pressure fighters/durable guys who've ran him close (and on one instance, beaten him). However Pacquiao has beaten a better pressure fighter/boxer-puncher in Barrera. If Cotto was the same size as Pacquiao, despite his success against movers and speedy guys, I think he'd get stopped badly. He's pretty much "good"... nothing really stands out about him that would warrant him being labeled as great. And at this point in Pac's career (size being equal), it would take a great fighter to beat him.

If Cotto wins, and Im leaning towards him, that's going to be a huge reason, as well as his natural power that comes with him being 10+ pounds bigger than Pac.

well for one he has a very good boxing skills ( not jmm or pbf level but pretty solid IMO ). im not saying that he can outbox pac or anything, im just saying that he has more to offer than just his size.

...that being said, i still root for pac to take this one :good

I'd have to say Pac only because he's able to box the way he does at the speed he does. Cotto is a great fighter, and though I think he'll win this fight, I think it depends more on his ability to take a few (or at least a few more then Hatton :yep ) to get in and work on the body. Maybe I put speed up on a pedistol too much though :think

I think size is his biggest advantage. But what makes it really dangerous for Pac is that along with the size I think Cotto has the timing and solid enough boxing skills to offset Pac's speed somewhat (meaning he can and will land hard shots on Pac), has great body punches (which will pay dividends earlier than it would against a bigger guy).

So I guess the question will be if Cotto will be able to land enough and how Pac will take these punches when they do land. Because IMO ever since Pac went up in weight, the question of whether or not Pac can take a flush shot from a bigger guy still hasn't been answered yet.

the biggest question for me is not how Pac will react to Cotto's power but rather how Cotto will react to Pac's power. If Cotto can take a punch to give a punch, I think Pac might be in a little bit of trouble. But if Pac's power hurts Cotto enough that he is forced to cover up and unable to get off when Pac is throwing combinations, then I think it will be an easy W for Pac
