This is Boxing TrashTalking has been apart of the sport since it began,I can see were Cotto is coming from hes been made to like Pacs next Sacrificial lamb at this weight like Ricky was at 140, And throughout his career Cotto has been compared to Hatton and Hatton was overated hes still a world class fighter being a world champion but on the 2 occasions he stepped up he was outclassed.

You are confusing confidence with trash talking.....I don't think you will ever hear disrespect towards ones family from Cotto.

I am glad as hell he said, " I am no overrated Hatton nor an over the hill Oscar "

He is sending a clear message to Manny's camp.....as you know fully well that Roach has been doing quite a bit of trash talking and Manny isn't innocent as well !!!!!

There is absolutely nothing Manny can do to KO Cotto....short of stuffing
a horse shoe in his glove for good luck.

Manny cannot and will not KO Cotto.....Manny will be belly up in the 7th !!!

Cotto beat Shane Mosley who is the fastest and most powerful welterweight in the world. How can you say Cotto's defense is flawed? Styles make fights, and Cotto lost to Margarito not because of defensive problems (he outboxed Margo in the first half) but because his incompetent trainer made him fight like Muhammad Ali instead of making him attack. Cotto has what it takes to KO Pacman.

Is the statement 'Im not an overrated Hatton' simply him putting the record straight? Its easy for someone to take one look at both fighters and make the comparison using the same sentence, i'd hardly call it trash talking. Simply trying to seperate himself from the same mould as Hatton.

Cotto has simply pointed out that Pac is not fighting old and dehydrated Oscar, or hook and hold Hatton. Fighting a real welterweight who holds wins over Judah, Mosely, and Clottey is a far cry from fighting those guys. I have no problem with Cotto pointing that out.

I agree why talk **** about Hatton now , I for one see Pac stopping Cotto just like Hatton within 6 rounds or so ,

Id have also gone with Hatton against Cotto in 2005 by either late TKO or SD in an all out brutal war , but let's be honest Hatton isent anywhere near his level of 05 now and Cotto whould murder him even at 140 weight drained now

Cotto has a point. SOME PEOPLE think Cotto will get KO easy just like Hatton did. But check Hatton's record. He really only two victories over class A fighters and both at 140lbs. Tszyu (2005) and JLC (2007). Both past their primes. That was it.

I agree. He's trying to get in Pac's head a bit. Why is everyone being so sensitive about that quote? Everyone in the world thinks Hatton's overrated especially ESB and he points that out and now it's "Oh **** this trash talker" or "I'm rooting for Pac now." Stop getting your panties in a bunch.

Cotto and Hatton are two different fighters...Cotto always performs well in victory or defeat. He also wasn't dissing Hatton, just stating what he believes. I'm sure he was posed a question to lead him up to that answer anyway.

I won't support such a statement but its not say there isn't any truth in his words. Hatton was and possibly still is a fearless strongman who attacks first and thinks later. If one cannot see the difference in overall boxing technique and IQ when comparing Cotto and Hatton then there is still a certain amount of boxing curriculum required before indulging yourself in anymore conversations pertaining to boxing. Both Hatton and Cotto have and are world champs both are great fighters but they have much different skill sets. This is obviously not a knock on either man but when it comes to pacman he will have to do more than sit and wait for an over anxious fighter to jump in face first attempting to overwhelm his opposition. Cotto will make his way inside pac slowly and carefully, one thing to remember is this will be the first welter weight fight where cotto will hold a reach advantage of his opponent, no doubt cotto can be a creature of habit but this will work in his favor when manny attempts to shoot his straight left as cotto always keeps his right hand tucked by his chin when shooting his shotgun jab. Like hatton cotto can seamlessy turn over the jab into a left hook to the body and like hatton both men commit with most of their weight on the lead leg executing precise coil when delivering such body blows. Hatton never waited for a opening he was inpatient and never thought about timing pac between his bounces, pac's offense is his best defense. If Cotto forces him to stay at the end of his jab palying defense he will never be able to use his whirlwind offense consistantly enough to put a dent on Cotto's chin. This fight will be a true chess match the first man to lose focus will lose this bout plain and simple.

I don't necessarily know if we can call this "talking ****" so much as correctly assessing the situation.
