the eubank and reid wins far surpass the johnson and tarver ones.(considering he beat a prime reid virtually one handed i.e he broke his hand in the 4th)

and dont give me the eubank was shot,he was 31 and in terrific shape though past his peak probably....but a still dangerous world class operator,calzaghe on the other hand was still a virtual unknown both fighters had no idea who they would be facing 2 weeks previously!!

calzaghe man handled eubank knocking him down twice to win a very wide UD,a eubank that almost went on to claim the cruiserweight title twice!! in those epics with carl thompson (a much older version spanked david haye silly) in the first eubank floored thomson but lost a controversial close decision,i thought he'd won!!

the second was close again but was stopped due to eubanks horrific eye injury,the previous fights eubank had were with steve collins yet again close if not controversial fights,certainly (to some people) in the case of one of them anyway! hardly shot!

let alone wins like

mitchell - the former wba smw champion lost his title controversially to sven otke previously to fighting joe

sheika - mike tysons manager's latest protege,a big up n coming name in the us at the time,coming off a win over glenn johnson

mario veit - the wbo interim title holder was undefeated at the time they met

charles brewer - a tough smw veteran,and world class operator good scalp to have,funny people criticise wins like this yet are quick to hype wins over shot welterweights and refuse collectors,yes im talking to you bernard and you roy!!

sakio bika - probably the most avoided fighter in boxing today, hence his exclusion from the smw tournament and inclusion of direll lol,a dangerous fighter in both the smw and lhw division.

jeff lacy - favourite prior to the fight coming off a KO blitzkreig over the likes of vanderpool (a guy who gave prime hopkins a tough 12 round fight) the ibf champions soul was destroyed that night,performance for the ages! anyone who thinks lacy (overhyped or not) is the same fighter today (i.e getting spanked by the likes of taylor) that he was back then needs a labotomy!!

kessler - still considered the best smw in the world,favourite to win the tournament,undefeated fighter with a solid resume prior to calzaghe,great won.

hopkins - messy victory over the legitimate no.1 lhw in the world (on his soil at a new weight) who pre and post calzaghe spanked tarver and pavlik,people are confusing age with prime here (see tyson v lewis) they are not one and the same!!!calzaghe slapped him down,he did! what hopkins was reduced to in that fight was embarrassing,**** fest which just proves 2 great fighters dont neccesarily make a good fight,clear but messy victory.

jones - like it or not jones has proved he is far from shot,obviously past prime but then again joe was nearly 37 why would he not want this fight at the garden earning millions in the process over a guy hes wanted for years as his swansong??he schooled him senseless,if jones doesnt win another major title il eat my socks!


richie woodhall (olympic bronze medalist and former wbc champion)

juan carlos gimenez ferrerya (a guy who went the distance with both benn and eubank giving both very tough fights)

etc etc

yes its not the greatest resume ever but there are many other so called greats with resumes that lack a few names, his longevity and consistency put him head n shoulders above anyone in the smw division,great fighters and writers alike sing his praises,ask bert sugar or ray leonard or nigel benn there opinions on joe!!i tend to side with them rather than some pre-pubescant agenda driven hafwit on esb.

there is no middle ground with jc he's either a bum or the greatest fighter ever to lace up,he's neither....

hes is however the best smw imo opinion the world has seen thus far!

a well known poster would multiple account himself responses,argue with himself and use aliases to bump up his hatred for calzaghe ,is that someone who can claim objectivity and a sound mind??

if people go to this sort of length he must be doing something right!!utter craziness...
