    Boxing always needs new talent. Mayweather, Pacquaio, Calzaghe, Hopkins, et al are older & on their way out.

    For what's its worth, I think Vasyl Lomachenko is a potential professional pound for pound type of talent, and Artur Beterbiev ( who was robbed in the the Olympics ) is the heir apparent #1 guy at light heavy.

    These two might go pro one day. Sadly super heavyweight Cammarelle says he has no plans to turn professional.

    Cammarelle wins superheavyweight...... no surprise there, the man is outstanding. Let's hope some promoter manages to seduce him into turning pro.




    p.s. this is not a stab, but where are the Americans? No influx of American talent means less attention from the media (this is how it works in every country), which leads to boxing having a very hard time in future America.. :mad:

    Vasyl Lomachenko: Future P4Per, no doubt. I think he's going to compete at the next Olympics, hopefully they move him fast once he turns Pro, seems to have real quality.

    Cammarelle is big, strong, in good shape and fast with good power. He should turn pro and be pushed like Gamboa, he has the skills, chuck him in.

    Unfortunately he's more than happy being a Policeman.

    Vasyl is a very talented fighter with good skills..and he is obviously a good looking kid aswell..I think he could be a possible pro superstar in the future aswell.

    USA scored a silver at 64k with Gomez. I believe the problem with USA Amateur Boxing is the youth just don't have the intangibles, proper mind set, and in some cases work ethic to succeed.

    I think it's not much about the intangibles, mind set or work ethic; amateurs are young and full of dream. They always work hard.

    The problem is in numbers. MMA and the likes are "cool" these days, while boxing gyms are having more and more trouble staying open. Too few people box.

    I disagree. Part of the problem is the intangibles. USA has only scored one medal in the last 12 years at light heavy, heavy, and super heavy, and it was a bronze.

    The average USA teen sends 2900 text messages a month, plays video games, is over weight and has become too comfortable to give boxing a try.

    2900 text messages a month? That's 100 freaking messages a day! :lol:

    I do agree that this kind of development, as well as the increasing luxury in our society that makes us lazy, holds boxing back. But at the moment, boxing seems to be "out of the fashion", in the USA at least. Very unfortunate, but one inspiring US heavyweight could swing things 180 degrees.
