hopkins would win decision imo. similar to the pavlik fight, hopkins will take away his workrate by not engaging, and circling the ring, and taking away pw' flurries by clinching, similar to the calzaghe fight imo.

another point, would williams be able to carry his speed at the higher weight?.

if hopkins didnt sweep the first 5 rounds he would lose....
or knock paul out in less than 6...

he would lose.... he got tired against calzaghe and that was a while ago.... his age would show more than ever against paul williams

    true.
people need to keep reminding themselves too that what hopkins is achieving by being so competitive at his age is extraordinary, but the time he has left to keep doing this is very limited.

the chance hopkins is going to get badly beaten in the next couple of years is very good.

exactly.... when he loses its going to look like he got old over night.. as long as paul williams could take bhops punches paul is VERY LIVE!

think about it.... the only time we have seen pw in trouble is against someone who moved around basically the whole entire fight..... no stationary fighting

do you think bernard hopkins at the age of 44+ could move that much and stay energized the whole entire fight?

imo, hopkins would win enough of the early rounds to get the decision. yes he might tire but no way would williams be able to ko him. this fight to me, would be very much like, the calzaghe fight. hopkins staying out if range, not engaging with williams, this taking away his main asset, his workrate, with hopkins counterpunching, williams will be wary of throwing combinations cos he will get caught. yes hopkins will tire and clinch a lot in the later rounds , but my question is,could williams adjust his tactics mid fight to deal with hopkins or will he stand there like pavlik with plan A alll night and get a beating? hopkins make his opponents fight his fight, you have to adjust to beat him. iam not sure williams has the experience yet to do this.

does anyone think this fight will happen anyway?

Dangerous and pointless for B-Hop. If he wins, what does he earn? Temporary respect? The history books will think nothing of this accomplishment. If he loses, he loses what he earnd against Pavlik.

This fight is stupid for Bernard, but good for boxing. He won't take it. He's just talking. He's only fighting Adamek for the Cruiserweight title, Dawson for Light Heavyweight Supremacy, or Roy Jones Jr. for vindication. period!
