truly shocking news, he had the world at his feet

what makes it even worse is that he was such a nice, down to earth, mature, sensible and level headed fella

Wow, obviously don't know him personally but seemed the unlikeliest candidate to go like that. Regardless of how, it's terribly sad.

    RIP.

He had everything going for him. An Olympic medal, a highly respected university degree and a lucrative professional contract...this is awful, he is a HUGE loss to Irish boxing...I just can't believe he committed suicide, he always seemed like a lively fella.

    RIP Darren...you will be missed

Dublin Legend Darren the Dazzler. Shocking news. once a legend always a legend. I still can't believe it though!
Wonder will there be a tribute at the Dunne fight?

Lads for the sake of respect lets not encourage anyone to speculate too much. Lets just remember him for the legend he was.

As I sit at my monitor I can't believe this tragic and despairing news. A bright flame among Irish boxing has been extinguished, and a fine human being has died. God only knows the reason for Darren's actions, but I can't for the life of me understand it. A young successful man with his whole life ahead of him, I'm very down now.
Lads, take a moment and say a prayer to Jesus Christ our saviour for the repose of Darren's soul. God rest young Darren Sutherland.

I've just woken up to this news, It's left me shocked to say the least.
Never got the chance to meet him but i spoke to him on facebook a good few times and the man was just so humble and always had time for his fans.

This is a huge loss and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

    R.I.P. Darren

Very upsetting news. You don't expect things like this to happen to a man with the world at his feet. But you really never know what demons people are struggling with.
