Cotto didn't outclass either of those guys that you listed ...

he and Torres slugged it out and it was like that until Torres ran out of gas
he and Judah wasn't a show of class but more about braun ... as he beat judah down and got the stoppage

The closest Cotto came to outclassing an opponent was Mosley ... Pacquiao has never came close ... David Diaz? ... physicality played a major part in that ...

I've seen Cotto outbox a couple of opponents but I never seen him show a class above opponents when going the distance or getting a stoppage.

Your very misguided in this fitz....

Cotto did not with the bazan fight because of his power, he won it because of his ability,
Cotto did not win the mosley fight because of his power, he won it because of his ability,
Cotto did not win the Ndou fight because of his power, he won it because of his ability

I will pick those fights because you seem to equate the only way to outclass your opponent is outboxing them technically....
which he did in all three of these fights.

what on earth do you MEAN??? lol!!!!

How is Cotto vs Gomez not an outclassing in every sense of the term?????

    Right hand - cotto
    footwork - cotto
    defence - cotto
    left hook - cotto
    body work - cotto
    timing - cotto
    accuracy - cotto

He does everything better then gomez thats able to be judged and he does so in immense amounts.

He almost showed that he was a cut above Mosley but at the end physicality came into play.

Bazen ... come on now ... he was on his way up ... former olympian, he was supposed to look good ... at that point Bazen was a stepping stone/ gate keeper. Thats not a show of class, that was a measuring stick fight.

He didn't outclass Ndou either ... I was just watching that fight (10 min ago) there was no seperation in class ... Cotto tried to box but had to show physciality to pull it off in the mid rounds ... in the late rounds he didn't even box good.

I guess the definition of "outclassing" is a little vague. If you mean Cotto and Pac never gave any opponent a boxing lesson quite like Mayweather has then I understand what you mean.

However, this is where styles are made. Mayweather is the most gifted fundamental boxer. Cotto has good fundamental boxing skills with power to add. Pac has unbelievable speed, a southpaw stance, and fighter's mentality, while still improving as a more complete boxer.

Mayweather has **** to do with this thread ... this is about two fighters who are about to go heads up in a couple of months.

Read the whole original thread/post instead of the title.

Pacuiao didn't overwhelm Ricky Hatton, because Pac wasn't the one coming forward. Hatton tried to overwhelm Pacquiao, but kept running into hooks, and eventually got put to sleep by one.

Your definition out "outclass" is a bit off, but I understand what you are trying to say...but your definition of the word doesn't apply to Cotto and Pac because of the styles they fight. Neither one of them mind taking a few shots to land their own, and neither one is a defensive wizard, so - in your eyes - it would be hard to define anything they have done out outclassing someone...

    I did.

Simply by beating someone in a dominant fashion you are outclassing them in my book.

To say that you have to school a fighter in textbook boxing style to outclass them is bollocks.

A fighter can only beat another with what tools he has...Some wins fight with skills, some with brute strength and durability, some with speed and athleticism.

You are basically saying that if you outclass an opponent to the point of stoppage, totally overwhelming them, then it isn't outclassing. Which is completely an utterly stupid.

Pacquiao has outclassed top level fighters. He outclassed Barrera close to his prime. He outclassed Ricky Hatton recently, making him look stupid with his footwork and timing, showing he was several classes above him. Any dominant win is outclassing an opponent, because to win in dominant fashion, you have to be a class above them.
