So it's ok for him to be fat because he has been fat in previous fights?

Yes, this is a bad weight for him. It was a bad weight for him in those other fights too, but he got away with it. This time he won't.

One of the biggest lies we always hear in the sport is the low weight estimates of the guys not known for top conditioning habits. Especially at heavyweight. History shows lots of pre-fight hoopla about being 100% and after the fight that figure somehow magically gets changed a ton.

Id say chris is best wt for vitali should be aroun 243,biggest reason hes not at an ideal wt or 100%what he could be is they put the date too soon i mean he signed in julyor earlyaug by the way he lets himself go(even more ) between fights so he should have had a month to just get in decent shape and the common 2 to 3 months training for a championship fight. That would have put the ideal date at around at least early November to early December,I blame mgmt:patsch for this Id give him a much better shot if Had at least another month of training,

Anything past the mid-230s, at most, is too heavy for Arreola IMO.

I know he's 6'4 but without that extra blubber he'd be quicker and more energetic.

It's doing him no good at all but he seemingly can't be bothered. He'll turn up to fight around 250+ and be proud of himself for getting down that 'low'.

That's just it, really, isn't it?

You're right about the dangers of weight draining.

But he shouldn't have allowed himself to get so appallingly out of shape in the first place.

There is more to it than just the weight on fight night. If two boxers enter training camp, one in basic good shape and the other really fat, who is going to make better use of their camp? Vitali has all his time and energy to finetune his boxing and to go from good basic shape to the best shape his body can come up with. Arreola needs his training camp to move from obesity to being overweight to somewhat decent shape. This is stressfull to a fighter's metabolism and going up and down in weight means his coordination has to adjust all the time. Sam Peter couldn't take advantage of Vitali's ring rust because he needed his training camps to move down from 300 pounds to somewhat decent shape. Peter stopped improving as a fighter when he couldn't keep his weight down between fights anymore. Arreola's youth advantage is probably out of the window if the older guy takes better care of his body year - round.

There is a thread that states that Sam Peter is at 239. Now if a guy like Sam Peter can get down to 239 (if true), why can't Arreola? Arreola's bone structure isn't as big as Peter's, yet this guy is 259? WTF?

Chris should try and go back down to 239lbs, he looked impressive in the Witherspoon fight...
