I'm gonna stick by my comments. There are too many differences between Haye and Ali for any comparisons to be anything other than stupid. Even when people try to pretend there are similarities - such as them both being outspoken - these attempts fall over as soon as they are examined. For example, Ali used wit, Haye has none. Ali backed up his words, Haye does not. The list goes on. The only sentence which should mention both is when showing contrasts and not pretending there are similarities.
You totally missed my point! I never said Haye is a new Ali ffs:nut But the way they act, talks and bragging without done anything yet are the similarities in this vid! The threadstarter asked if you would hate this man (when he was an upcomming fighter) and i answered yes i probably would! Haye is acting the same way today.. but he have not done anything to back up his talk yet, Neither had Ali or Clay at that time! Thats why i put Haye in.. Not becouse i think they fight same way!
There are huge differences between a young Ali and the current version of Haye. Did young Ali already have an embarassing loss? No - so his bravado had never been tainted by proven failure. Did Ali have a habit of making fights then running from them? No - so his bravado had never been tainted by this either. Ali's brashness wasn't tainted by the stink that hangs around Hayes. People could believe that Ali was the real deal - or if not, at least they could know Ali himself believed he was the real deal. Haye doesn't have that. Any attempt to make comparisons between them - as people and not as boxers - will be overshadowed by the immense differences. This will make any such attempt not only fail but to seem strange.
Many people hated Ali. It wasn't for his mouth only. He was brash and he talked ****! He backed it up and he stood up for what he beleived. Any person who hates on Ali is an *******!!!!! White people complain when a black man stands up against their standards, but will gladly call him a great american when it suits thier needs. Louis/Schmelling. Owens winning in track etc. In my opinion Black have the right to be heard and sometimes he has to be loud.
Afro americans needed people like Muhammad Ali, after centuries of oppression and slavery, Ali was one who stood up and stood out, he showed that he was better than the "slave masters", and this threatened a lot of people and still does today. He was one of the many example that highlighted defiance against injustice that came out of the US during the past 100 years.
Racist much? :rofl some people just hated Ali because he was an *******! Look at the thigs he said about frazier and tell me that was ok? he said he didnt believe in interracial dating as well... Louis was all class unlike ali and yes he got screwed louis a lot by our govt it was crap how they treated him..Ali he called louis an uncle tom to me ali was a classless piece of shitt and overrated all time too many wins which shoulda been losses.. and too many losses he lives more on his hype then what he sdid in the ring..
Most people DID hate Clay when he was coming up, it's only when he stood up and backed up his words with actions did the tide emphatically turn to his favor. To some degree I STILL hate him... Although he was a spectacular trash talker I always felt he went over the line a little bit, sometimes when he was playing his 'character' he acted a little inhuman and that's always turned me off from him. Ali is a true standard for trash talkers, he talked it and he walked it! You can be incredulous when he says he'll beat the champion but you have to show him respect when he delivers, you can hate him for claiming he'll knock out his opponent in 4 rounds but you better shut your mouth when he actually does it (in the exact round he said he would). You can't compare Ali to Haye or even Toney, Toney calls people out, claims that he is something he's not, calls people names and then doesn't sign the contract when they offer him fights; Haye is just as bad, at least, until he actually backs up what he has said.
