We all now JMM is one of the best boxers of this generation. He is a three time world champ, and while he may not have the early acclaim of Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales (due to his more tactical approach, which changed a few years ago) he is one hell of a fighter, who has to rank up there with Mexican greats. My question is that if he beats Mayweather (lets say for arguements sake in a competitive fight were he presses Floyd to the ropes and attacks the body), who doesen't look to badly affected by his ring rust, were would you place Marquez on the Mexican P4P rankings? He has loads against him here (he was a 4 to 1 underdog before the weigh in bull****, I guess he will be up to a 6 to 1 underdog soon) as Mayweather is bigger, in his prime, faster, has experience at that weight and has been ni loads of wars. Julio Cesar Chavez snr is universally recognised as the greatest Mexican ever, and whats tough to beat is his 130 odd fights. True he fought plenty of stiffs but he also beat lots of good and a few great fighters. Does a Marquez win rate so highly that he deserves to be put over someone with nearly 3 times more fights than him? If not were would you put him on your ranking?

Anyone who beats Floyd is automatically going to be propelled up the all time rankings.

But to overtake JCC in the eyes of mexicans. I dont know whether this could be done by beating Floyd and Manny in his next two fights.

Floyd is weight-drained, inactive and is coming out of retirement. It wouldn't count at all. JMM's resume consists of beating some old pensioners, losing twice to Pac-Man and being Mexican.

    ...

Just kidding. It would be one of the best victories of recent years, in my opinion, given (a) how skilled Floyd is and (b) the size difference. It would certainly put JMM amongst the great Mexicans of the era; how he ranks within that top 4/5 or so depends on what he does in the rest of his career. I would LOVE to see JMM beat Floyd, because JMM has been a great warhorse for years but lacks that one big win.

JMM would be p4p#1 if he beats Floyd.

    But he won't.
