I'm new to this great site, and will probably get flamed because I'm new here but here I go: Just to preface this post, I am not a Floyd fan, nor am I a Juan Manuel fan, but I have an enormous amount of respect for both men as boxers. With that being said, how the $%&* is Floyd not getting the credit he deserves for beating a quality opponent! I understand that Marquez was the smaller man, but he is ranked as the #2 pound-for-pound fighter in the world and a hell of a boxer/fighter and gave Manny all he could handle. Max Kellerman was out of line with his questioning following the bout. He attempted to IMMEDIATELY discredit Floyd's win with his statements. And for Shane Mosley to try and steal a moment that Floyd has worked months for was bush-league. Again, I am not a big Floyd fan, but he completely dismantled a great fighter in Marquez. Juan had an extra two months following Floyd's rib injury to adjust to the rise in weight, and has won titles in three different weight divisions. I'm tired of hearing "Floyd should have fought a bigger opponent." So if Floyd would have chosed to fight Cotto, some people would have said "He's ducking Juan Manuel Marquez, the #2 pound-for-pounder!" I'm almost convinced if Floyd beats Manny (which I think he would, especially after seeing that clinic last night), the Floyd haters would say "Floyd was too big for Manny" or "Manny has been in too many wars and Floyd hasn't." Floyd KO'd an undefeated Ricky Hatton, and has fought top quality competition throughout his career. It's time some folks stop finding something to criticize him about every time he wins.
Kellerman is an unqualified CLOWN. HBO should get rid of this punk as soon as possible and replace him with someone good like Al Bernstein.
If you think a chubby-looking JMM who weighs in closer to 140 than 147 is as qualified as any top WW to take on Cherry, and if you think last night bears any major reflection on a potential Pacquiao/PBF fight, then you should never have opened your account here.
floyd only fights against guys he knows he can beat and can't hurt him. its a fact and its a god damn waste.
Kellerman and HBO did a good job last night exposing just how un proffessional Floyd acted in his return, if anybody should be ashamed its Floyd and his fans.
He would have let them go at, and kept control. And they would have RESPECTED Teddy. One thing you could tell easily was how LITTLE respect the fighters had for that twerp. That's what happens when you hire a boy to do a man's job.
Ashamed??? HBO and hardworking boxing fans are paying this punk alot of money. We want to see him fight guys who actually have a chance at winning. When was the last time Floyd stepped up and took a fight where the outcome was actually in question? If he's the best boxer of all times and he now fights at 147, then when is he going to face a top 5 welterweight? ... WHEN? Is that too much to ask of the lb 4 lb king? While guys like Williams, Mosley, Margarito, Cotto, Clottey, Berto and Cintron were out there for him at 147, he chooses Sharmba Mitchell, Baldomire, Judah, Oscar, Hatton, and now Marquez. Were any of these guys even close to being the top dog at welterweight? Not a prayer. It's a sick joke... but were not laughing. He's making a fool out of HBO and every fan that lays out their hard earned money to watch boxing.
