Floyd Mayweather is an outrageous example of all that is wrong with boxing.

When that happens bro...I'll be the first to give him his props.U won't get an argument from me about his skillz...he's all that...but until he proves it with the best 147 fighters out there,then it's all BS.He does'nt have to beat them all...at least two of these cats.

FYI...Roy Jones is arguably the most physically gifted fighter that ever stepped between the ropes...but as we all know...he never took the hardest challenges that were out there...instead went and fought mailmen and garbage collectors etc...and today is regarded as an almost-was type of fighter.

Even if he beats these cats....the 80's alone had the deepest pool in talent than this..and cats like SRL cleaned it out.Period.Floyd still won't make that league IMO..but for this era,he'll be the man.

I tend to agree for Pacman..the difference in size would prove again too much with a really skilled fighter that has a 5 inch reach advantge I believe on top of that.

 

I don't think Mayweather would duck Cotto, as Cotto is very beatable from Cherry's perspective and he's intelligent enough to know that. Pacquiao is a handful and Mosley is very imposing: those are the two fighters Floyd is worried about.

 

Mayweather didnt do anything de la hoya wasnt doing from the beginning. More like mayweather pulled a "CLASSIC DLH".

 

There was never any serious talk about Mayorga because HBO straight out turned it down and gave them other options otherwise they had nothing. That was another joke of a fight they looked to make after Lockett and that's a Mayorga coming off a brutal KO loss in the 12th against Mosley one division below.

 

Oh come on. When Pavlik was stuck for a fight, rather than fighting John ****ing Duddy like most champions would have done, he stepped up the best part of two weight divisions to fight a man notorious for ruining the careers of all the young starts that faced him; and, despite having a bad camp and being outweighed and outgunned significantly for 12 rounds, survived 'till the final bell.

And don't tell me you'd rather see Pavlik fighting some cupcake MW over Paul Williams. That is a great fight which Pavlik conjured up HIMSELF.

Compared to Pavlik, Mayweather is an ATG ducker.

Can't believe people are criticizing not only Mayweather but Marquez as well?!?! The same Marquez that whooped Casamayor and Diaz and arguably defeated Pacquiao! You also seem to forget that Marquez was the one that challenged Mayweather

Yes, he really stepped up to fight a guy who was 43 years old, had fought only once a year in the previous two years, and was 2 for 5 in his last five fights. Oh, and at a catchweight that was only 4 pounds higher than the weight at which he had beaten Taylor two fights previous.

Pavlik was the heavy favorite going into the fight. He was looking to get an easy win over a faded big name fighter and it backfired when the big name fighter turned out to not be that faded after all.

 

That was a very good post, boo. It sure will be interesting to see what PBF does once Pac/Cotto is concluded. I have a feeling your right, but won't the magnitude of a PBF/Pac fight diminish if Cotto does win? And won't fightfans scream for PBF/Cotto instead?

And I think that whole scene with Mosley was planned with PBF to get the hype going for a fight between them. You know PBF only fights old men past their prime. Mosely fits the bill & that fight will dupe alot of fans to think Mosley ould win...more PPV $$$. Remember, they said that PBF gave Mosley a wink from the ring last night...

I feel for Marquez taking a beating from a bigger man, but no way does PBF deserve to be P4P No. 1 until he take out the winner of Pac/Cotto.

Should Pac beat Cotto & the megafight is on & PBF wins that, AGAIN, he just beat up on a smaller guy.

Look this **** is pointless. So what if he was bigger, so what if he was younger, it dosent take away from the fact that Mayweather is just better than Marquez plain and ****ing simple. There were times in the fight when Mayweather seemed to just let Marquez come to him and Marquez just couldnt hit him, Floyd being too big has **** all to do with evading punches and countering them. Bring on Mayweather-Pacqauio.

 

He signed for the money knowing he had no chance what so ever. Is that so hard to grasp. Come on Scar this was garbage. If that version of JMM showed up against Cotto or Pac we would IMO seen a knockout. At 140 JMM would be right now a good showcase for Hatton to close out his career. I am serious JMM looked way too sluggish and slow last night to be considered a top 140 lb guy.

Mayweather looked good as always but we allready knew that so why see it again in another mismatch. I just can't help to wonder why a some what limited fighter with injury problems can lay off for longer than Mayweather and come back and fight the best fighter in his own division and Floyd has to subject us to this kind of mismatch. Heavyweights can get hurt bad fast if they are not competitive in a fight. Yet Vitalli comes in against a guy with a record of brutal knockouts and throws a lot of punches connecting at over 50%. How come the best fighter in the world can't match that.

Wait until we see Cotto and Pac. That we be a real fight of closely matched opponents. I don't normally get to excited about non heavyweight fights but this one is a classic. It will make up for the kind of fights we saw last night.
