While watching the FMJr Vs Marquez fight I realized that what Marquez tried to do would be akeen to Floyd going up to 168 and fighting Calzaghe. And then Calzaghe weighing in at 170 instead of 168. I would call the win a clear win but I still feel as if it is a loss for Floyd. He is the taller, faster man. And he outweighed Marquez by at least 20 lbs. He should have KO'd him by 8. He should have never went backwards after the knockdown. I hope Pac Vs Cotto is more exciting.
Did he dominate? Absolutely. But was it a great win? Not that really, but it's not a loss either, It's a win and a name on his record, but that's about it; and I quote Maywather "He's (Marquez) a great small man."....really sums it up.
Ridiculous logic. Floyd didn't use his size to beat JMM, so your point is moot. Had Floyd bullied JMM all night, and shoved him around the ring, then maybe you can say size was the reason he beat Marquez, but it didn't go down like that. Learn something about boxing.
I am sorry but this is bull crap. Marquez is a great fighter who got outclassed by the supreme skills of PBF Money Mayweather the best practitioner of this time and one of the best ever arguably the most complete fighter. The manner of victory is all important. PBF has beaten all types including supposedly bigger stronger men.
PBF would still win if they were equal size however, I wonder if Floyd could beat a top 3 P4P fighter with so much weight difference after re-hydration if THEY had the weight advantage Floyd did. The guy had all the advantages yet still weighed in at 146, he shouldn't pull that ****. He doesn't need to.
I agree Floyd would have won regardless of size he is clearly just the better boxer. It is uncool however how he did come in so overweight its not like he needed to and really he has fought at 130 so it is clear he could make the weight. Can't wait for him to do the same to pac though people will still bag him but the true fans will know.
He did not come in overweight as it was a Welterweight fight the limit is 147. There was a penalty for coming in at over 144 pounds. PBF paid the penalty to Marquez who is $600,000 richer on top of his career high $2,000,000 purse. why should a fight have to weaken himself like Pacman and Roach are trying to do to Cotto yet want it to be a title defence.
wow settle down there cowboy dont forget the huge weight difference i bet your a bully also dont even respond jack ass im not gonna buy it
Go toss yourself off. You forget that PBF started his career at Super featherweight. Also Marquez called PBF out wanting to take him on. PBF also fought and beat many naturally bigger men which he has been doing lately other than the Marquez fight. Remember De La Hoya got the bigger gloves, higher weight and smaller ring against PBF who still taxed his arse. Now PBF outclasses Marquez all of a sudden Pacman is to small. In any event Cotto will take care of Pacman very soon.
Marquez weighed 148 lbs. on fight night. So unless Floyd rehydrated 22 lbs. and came in at 168 lbs., he didn't outweigh Marquez by anywhere near 20 lbs. His ab muscles were still showing, which indicates he didn't put on that much weight. I'm guessing he came in between 152 and 154 lbs. Anyway, a win is never a loss; especially when you completely dominate your opponent.
Nonsense, PBF does not fight bigger men. You call PBF arguably the best ever fighter. Other fighters did things not floyd, just to name a few: 1. Hearns went from 147 to 175 to fight the best light heavyweight in Hill. 30 pounds. 2. James Toney went from 154 to 190 to face the best cruiserweight. He also took on heavyweights. over 30 punds 3. RJ went from 160 to 200 to face Ruiz. 4. Duran went from 135 to 160 to beat Barkley. 25 pounds.Faced HAgler there. STOP TALKING abput mayweather fighting bigger men.
I was interested in the type of responses I would get from this post. I find it funny that most didn't even read what I was stating. I never stated he used his weight advantaged. Just said that what Marquez attempted to do would be akin to IF Mayweather went up to fight Calzaghe at 168 Lbs. Then having Calzaghe weigh in at 170. Not ever trying to make 168. Mayweather should have dominated to the point of at least a TKO. I never said he should have brawled with him. Which seems to be the statement that comes up when referring to weight. Just that the weight difference allowed Floyd to take the few shots that did land like it was much of nothing. Floyd will never be the greatest because I don't think he will put himself into a position to where he could prove it.
Youve got to stop! PBF vs. JMM is not like PBF vs Calslappy! PBF has like an inch in height and 5 maybe 10 pounds on JMM. If PBF fought Calslappy, Slappy would have half a foot in height and WAY more than 5-10 pounds on PBF. The difference is PBF and JMM both started aroud the 130, Slappy has never been anywhere near 147 or 154 or **** 160 even. Very stupid comparison.
so if calzaghe slapped floyd around all 12 rounds until floyd bloated and flatfooted went into comatose, calzaghe wins not because of his size but because of skills?
