The fact that people are saying that Mayweather would easily beat Pacquiao just because Floyd easily beat JMM, who Pacquiao had tons of trouble with, blows my mind. Obviously, I'm not the first to say it, but remember...STYLES MAKES FIGHTS!!!!!

Hopkins very easily beat Kelly Pavlik, but just couldn't solve Jermain Taylor, who lost to Pavlik twice!

The reason why Pacquiao had - and probably still would have a tough time with JMM is because JMM simply has his number. It happens in boxing. Ken Norton had Ali's number, Tarver had Roy Jone's number, Vernon Forrest had Mosley's...the list goes on. Just because Floyd Mayweather beat JMM so thoroughly doesn't mean he'd do the same to Pacquiao.

    * Pacquiao is quicker - way quicker than JMM, and more aggressive. If you recall, when Floyd is against someone who throws a high volume of punches, he tends to cover up and show off his defense instead of punching back.

    * Floyd can be, and has been hit many, many times. De La Hoya, Hatton, Judah, and Corely all landed some very clean shots on him. Pacquiao's quick hands would allow him to hit Floyd even more frequently than those guys did, and while Floyd counters - successfully or not - chances are he is going to get hit again.

    * Floyd would have to win convincingly to get a decision. Very convincingly, something he isn't going to be able to do covering up, trying to avoid Pacquiao's punches all night, like he did for the most part against De La Hoya. If Floyd wants to beat Pacquiao, he would have to go after him, because there is no way that he could do his infamous "throw one shot, cover up" tactic against Manny and expect to cruise to a decision. Lots and lots of people don't like Mayweather, and you'd better believe if there was a chance to score against him without it being too controversial...well, what do you think would happen against the man who is boxing's crown jewel right now?

With all this said, of course, Pacquiao has to get past Cotto first, but the fact that most people on ESB and elsewhere are talking about Pacquiao fighting PBF this far ahead November 14th goes to show you which fight would generate more revenue. I've hardly seen any posts regarding a possible Mayweather-Cotto fight.

I agree with the TS... Styles make fights, and stylistically, Pacquiao is SCREWED if he dares to face PBF.

Zab was a boxer puncher, Pacquiao is not. Completely different style. You also really underrate Zab's natural talent if you think that Pacquiao is either significantly faster than him or significantly stronger. When he's on his game, which is infrequent, Zab is a match for anyone out there.

The TS point was ridiculous. He thinks that people are saying that Floyd beats Pac because Floyd beat JMM. They're saying that Floyd beats Pac because Floyd is a sharp, smart, accurate counterpuncher, exactly like JMM, but Floyd has the size and speed to make Pac pay in a way that JMM could not. Style DO make fights and Floyd is a stylistic problem for Pac for completely different reasons than why he beat JMM.

a fight between mayweathe and pac lost some of its aura for me after floyds last sat night , i tought it was a genuine 50-50 fight but now all i can see is beat down for pac , but hope i'm wrong for the sake of boxing and i really like pac and what he's all about but i cant see him penetrating floyds defence and i see him getting countered all night

PAC's speed is at par with Floyd... PAC's constant movements will have Floyd something to think of... PAC is a southpaw and southpaws has some success hitting Floyd... PAC is the more experienced boxer and also the younger boxer... Power might be the same too...

Definitely PAC has a considerable chance to defeat Floyd... I expect oddsmakers to put PAC just a slight underdog against Floyd...

The only way Pacquiao beats Mayweather if Mayweather kills himself to make weight.

I'll say it again..after seeing Floyds skills the other night in full display with his size, technical proficiency and the advantage stylistically,

If Pac beats him fair and square, Pacquaio would have to be considered along with SRR as the two greatest to lace them up.
