after showing in the first few rounds that he could outclass JMM easily and was much bigger, he couldn't put the little guy away. JMM was obviously smaller and ill-equipped to handle anything PBF gave him. My disdain for Floyd has nothing to do with his skills. It has more to do with his inability to challenge himself against some tough opponents. Pac fans, please don't get mad, but a PBF fight with Pac will be a Majority or UD for Floyd. He is really that good. The only problem in his fight with JMM was his fear to pull the trigger against the MUCH smaller Marquez and didn't finish him off like he should have. He's gun shy and afraid to be hit when he could easily end a fight. Which is why I mention Sugar Ray, say what you will bout Sugar but he was not afraid of losing! He fought the absolute best in his division, no questions asked. In all honesty imagine Sugar ray NOT fighting: Duran, Hagler, Hearns, Benitez, Ranzany et al. Would he be remembered as an ATG? Or would he be the boxer with the "0" on the loss side but not much else. Floyd could have been a Sugar Ray but unfortunately he has decided to stay away from Boxers who might have pushed him farther and made him dig deeper. Which on our side would have been great fights to watch as fans!
Did Pac-man put JMM away? Ok then. Jmm would be extremely hard for any fighter he fights to put away. one has to understand Floyd will always be the FAVORITE so therefore he will always have HAters, 1.
I'm not hating, HE HAS GREAT SKILLS! Is this hating ?? So you believe that PBF really tried to put him away?? Or was it that he couldn't hurt JMM so decided to coast to a victory ? If the former is true then he doesn't have the killer instinct. If the latter is true then he doesn't have much in his punches to hurt a blown-up super-featherweight. Either way, it's terrible. IMHO a KO of JMM would have gone along way as in bargaining power.
God you're stupid. Did pac knock out equal size marquez? no... but he came way closer than oversized floyd. You have absolutely no boxing intelligence, get the **** off this site.
Luke-O you a BUM. In some people eyes Pac-man has more power than Floyd. There is no secert Floyd had hand promblem and its amazing throughout his career he has remained undefeated and the best fiughter in the world. JMM, has never been Koed in his career and I doubt any JWW or WW would Ko him. As always Haters would never understand, 1.
Any critisism of Floyd is hate? A valid point was made in this thread. For a guy of Floyds skill, he should be taking on bigger challenges. Comparing Floyds showcase opponents against Sugar Rays bears this point out.
Soooo, you don't think Mosely, Cotto, Margarito, Clottey heck I'll even throw in Cintron and Berto would have put him AWAY! JMM came in undersized and most of any of the TOP WELTERS, IMHO would have TKO'd him. Floyd came in to the fight with a significant weight advantage but he was a faraid to pull the trigger. I'm not hating I just think he can do A LOT MORE with his GOD given TALENT!
He should never have fought JMM. It was a joke mismatch fight from the start. The coward Fraud should have fought a welterweight.
Has it occured to anybody that he's been away for almost 2 years. Get all the rounds you can. Finishing a guy in 2 rounds doesn't help get back in the swing of things folks.
I agree with what you posted PS9TEACHER, any other welter would of TKO'd Marquez. JMM just didn't belong up there. The comparison you make with Suger Ray not being afraid is one I also agree with. When Suger ray Leonard moved way up to Middle weight he fought the best, Hagler. That was serious risk, but one he was willing to take in order to prove his legacy. some may argue that Haglet got robbed, but never the less, Leonard fought him. Floyd has yet to do this, fight the best welter floyd. It's not Hating to ask this of him, especially when he's claiming to be the best.
ummm Leonard was away for 3 years and fought ???? Hagler, you guessed it, AT HIS NATURAL WEIGHT! Not catchweights or asking a lightweight to come up for the first time! And then he comes in OVER the agreed limit. What a joke.
Tell that to all of JMM's previous opponents. No one has been able to keep him down. Yes PBF did have more power. But JMM was adapting to PBFs attack teh whole fight. It was hard to notice since PBF put on a masterpiece but JMM took away alot of PBFs weapons. The jab is what killed JMM. He had no answer for it because that was a near perfect jab. I thought it was great how JMM neutralized PBFs left hook after being knocked down by it. Then even the right hand was neutralized to an extent.
I agree, excellent and valid points. Even Roy Jones Jr in his prime, someone who was at times criticized for not going after the biggest fights in the later part of his career, took out lesser opponents when the opportunity was there.
