Napoles was very good, but suseptable to cuts.If the mediocre Billy Backus stopped Jose by eye cut TKO, probably Floyd would too.

Backus wasnt mediocre...He wasnt on Floyds level of course but he was decent contender.
Billy was a southpaw and Napoles was cut by a headclash clearly in that fight. A fight Napoles was essentially dominating anyway.

    Its an intriguing bout.

Napoles impressed me much more at welter, where frankly Floyd just hasnt been that good compared to the awesomeness he showed at the lower weights.

Sure Jose could occasionally get cut up but I truly question Floyd's ability to land consistently with hard punches enough to cause this to come into play. I dont know if he would venture out of his defensive shell enough.
Napoles by some margin would have been the best fighter he has faced and the hardest puncher aswell. Jose had the kind of power that broke bones and it was made even more dangerous by his smooth, fluid punching style and high level of technical ability.

I really feel Jose may well be to multifaceted for the welter version of Mayweather here. Because not only does he brings skills and athletic ability that Floyd will find harder to outdo considering he is so used to have a massive advantage here, Napoles could turn into an aggressive badass very quickly and just let loose with both hands on the inside. He was an excellent ring general and he put the hurt on some very good boxer types like Cokes, Griffith, Perkins and Lewis.

But I could see Money just fighting ultra conservative and using his advantages in speed of hand and foot to eek enough rounds out here.

Over 12 its a very interesting fight...Over 15 I go with Napoles with little hesitation.
But with the right judges, (and I dont mean corrupt judges, I just mean judges that would score favorably for Mayweathers defensive minded tactics) over 12 it could be very close..Id still give the edge to Napoles though. I just dont see Mayweather having the offensive capability to take this one way from Jose.

Over 15 rounds, I'd say Napoles UD.

Over 12 would be the fairest way to do it..Seeing Floyd never fought over 15..Even though I think he would have done fine. He would have conditioned himself as was needed.

The Napoles that destroyed Cokes would beat Floyd. No doubt in my mind.

Napoles had something Mayweather lacks...its spelled B-A-L-L-S ! I have to go with the real deal "Mantequilla" over "Margarine" Mayweather.

Although im not an oltimer (39 but hardcore fan since 1978) i consider my self a boxing historian. I never have seen any clips of napoloes vs griffith. From what i here he dominated a still great griffith. That speaks for how great napoloes was
